A significant first

I had what I feel was a significant first happen to me last night. I ran the last three racks of a set in my 9ball match last night. I was trailing 8-6 in a race to 9 and my opponent broke dry I proceeded to run that rack and then I broke and ran two more for the win.

I feel as if I have reached a significant milestone, as I run racks frequently during a match, but I have never closed out a match by running out multiple racks consecutively. I have thought I was capable of this for awhile now but this is the first time it acctually happend, I was so happy last night I could hardly sleep.

Could this be the stepping stone to the next level I have been looking for.

Thanks for letting me rant.

Dude, that is the best feeling in the world! To close with a package and your opponent on the hill is by far, the best! I think it does change your game. I've always talked about being "within range" as though I were a field-goal kicker. You basically can now say you can kick from the 50 yardline.

That's awesome! I was behind this weekend 4-6 and made the 9, then broke and ran a 2 to close out the set. Not as great an accomplishment as yours, but I know how you feel. Coming from behind when all they have to do is win one more and then shutting them out feels great!

Keep up the good work; I hope to hear about more great accomplishments from you!

Cherish it. I had a similiar situtation years ago in Kansas, down $300 and playing for my last $300, my opponent who had trapped me into giving him the 8 missed the 8 at 8-5 him and then I went 3 and out to escape.
Never give up. never!

Like Jude said, it can change your game. There are a lot of times this game comes down to confidence. Something like you just experienced can send your's through the roof.

I had a similar experience to yours back in October, against a player I always had trouble with, and it jump started my game. I've been playing the best pool of my life for the last 4 months.

Good Luck!

In a race to 7, I was down 5-1 and won the set from there. I did have two combinations on the 9-ball so I'll let others decide if it was a true 5-pack or not. That really doesn't matter to me. From that moment on, I felt like at any point, I could win a set. In reality, things have to go your way but it's nice to know that when they do, you are fully equipped to take advantage of it.

same here.......similar thing........ran a 5 pack and it was the start of a big upswing in my game, although 2's and 3's are the best ive done since. Really when you think about it, alot of stuff has to go right to string racks like that.....1 bad cluster, 1 bad break.....one shot where you can get shapes on the next ball no matter what. It does make you giddy when it happens though.
