...that most everyone here has probably witnessed or perhaps even been guilty of.

So the other day me and my boy Benny were talking about this and I wanted to hear youse guys thoughts.

Why is it that so many gamblers and poker players are so stingy when it comes to things like the price of gas? I mean, I know some guys that bet $1000 on one football game and they will drive 5 miles the wrong direction if they hear they can get gas 4 cents cheaper there. These same master physicists will not even look at the price of a candy bar if they want it at the SAME GAS STATION that they went out of their way to go to! It doesn't phase these idiots one bit to spend $1.75 on a snickers that they could get somewhere else for $0.99 or at worse $1.29 so why bicker over saving $0.22 on 5 gallons of gas for their RAM pickup?

Makes no damn sense to this guy.

Yeah I know, they spend a $1 to go across town to save 75 cents, haha.

That's right

so crazy haha. And my examples in the original post are just the tip of the iceberg. I know a guy who blew 50k at the casino a couple months ago in 1 weekend but does everything he can to avoid paying for his own breakfast. This same punk won't set foot in a stripclub if he has to pay to get in but once he's in will drop a dime minimum. Some people....

I do not like paying cover for strip clubs, bars, clubs or anything like that since I am guaranteed to spend some dough in there and not just hang out.

Only on AzBilliards is going to strip clubs considered the norm. Wow! LOL

I would not call it normal at all really and think probably only 1% on here go more than once a year. I probably go once a year and am usually dragged along with buddies for a bachelor party or a boys night out but when I do I am going to spend a few hundred because I am a sucker there so paying a cover is not on my menu.

Lenny, beyond paying for your drinks, what do you spend you money on in a peeler bar.
Sticking bills in a strippers g string?

She comes over and rubs up against you and you feel the need to put a 10 spot in her panties.

And then afterwards, the girls sit around putting s hit up there noses compliments of the patrons and they laugh at them for being fools.

I agree it is a total waste of money which is why I do not make a habit of it but my arm is usually easily twisted to go out with the boys wherever because I like to have fun. I much rather spend money taking a girl out for dinner or drinks then in the strip club but I will not pretend that I have not thrown around some money in them here and there. I know all the guys are marks and suckers and most of the guys know they are too, for some it might be cheaper then having a wife and less BS I guess.

They have to be stingy with their money to save it for important things, necessary things, things that they cannot do without and are the very purpose of their whole existence : MAKING BETS ! :D

Yeah like my buddy who wins around $20,000 in the casino and says lets do dinner at McDonalds. I laughed and he was dead serious, he had a thing for the quarter pounder like eating one nearly everyday.

With internet and information age, radios and tv everywhere, ads everywhere, constantly communicating with friends; people know the real cost of most regularly consumed items. Information is power..
It is human nature, no one like to be stiffed when you can help it! even though it will cost you much more to get something somewhere else. Take for example, your regular AAA or AA batteries, at large retailers stores, like CVS, Walgreen, they jacked the price for such item in a very mean way, a pack of 4 AA were $3.99, drove to $1 store and got a pack of 4 for $1.00. I can sight many examples like this; Gas stations are mean too, a conveniently located gas station; will jack his prices too; or the minuet oil prices go up, you will see them working jacking it up too, even though they still have old deliveries in their tanks!!

I add, most people lack the experience of putting up money for their comfort!

Funny story.

My father (RIP) would go to Vegas a few times a year. He really enjoyed gambling. Not big gambling, but big enough for him. A few years ago my mom was telling me about their trip and how dad was at the blackjack tables and she came to check on him. He complained about a headache and she offered to go to the vending machine and get him some aspirin.

He's playing $15 hands of blackjack at 50 hands an hour, but wouldn't spend $2 on an aspirin because they ROB you at those vending machines!

Love ya dad, but sometimes your priorities weren't in the right place.

Who else thought it was funny in the OP that somebody bought 5 gallons of gas for their truck?

The original point he was making is something that made me change my priorities and lifestyle a couple years back. I don't agonize over minor price differences as much or buy lesser quality to save a couple of dollars. If my wife wants a $15 bottle of water at Disney, sure, I'll be pissed about the markup... but she's not going without when that same $15 will only buy me an hour of table time gambling after-hours, where I'm willing to win or lose a few hundred.

Sometimes LESS than 5!! Haha these guys are true degens. Who am I kidding, so am I. But I fill my truck up when I go the gas station(3 times a damn week).

oh, I don't know about that, JAM. Men like to look at nekked women, especially pretty ones. When I lived in your neck of the woods there was a place downtown that catered to the K Street crowd and the "talent" there was phenomenal.

Going to strip clubs, I think, is a phase most guys go through sometime in their lives, whether they confess that to their significant other or not.

Lenny, as for strip club covers. I know what you mean. I usually leave several hundred there if there's any primo talent anyway. But how are the girls/guys working the door supposed to know who does and who doesn't spend money? Every time I go to a place I see probably 60% or more of the patrons there hardly even drinking much less contributing to these sweet young ladies college funds. I say RAISE THE COVER prices but recognize when a customer is a good one and give him a couple drinks. After all a sufficiently "lubed" customer is just gonna spend more.

My friend/roommate goes to Vegas once a year and eats McDonalds the whole time! I mean damn man, at least go to in and out burger! But seriously this guy comes from nothing and just doesn't know what he's missing. To each his own I guess.

Yup.

Going in to one with the right attitude, shouldn't be a big deal. Guys like looking at women, the ladies can make more in one or two nights than they can in an entire week of retail.

Yes, there are some places where it's not that simple. But this is the case around here, the times that I have gone. I have had conversations with many of the ladies, and its a much better gig for them than a lot for jobs that they are qualified for. While they are going to school...
