ABP and their 15 minutes of fame!!!!!!!!!!!!

I normally just sit back and read the posts in these forums and do not get involved and or heated about many issues; but come on guys this is ridiculous.

I feel that the ABP is using the US Open as a stepping stone to get their names in the lights. This is their 15 minutes of fame, and they are going to do everything to soak it up. This organization is a joke! This is equivalent to a temper tantrum from a five year old.

I read so much about people wanting pool to get bigger and better, but in order to do so the players have to act accordingly too. If you want to have an organization that helps the players, then do that, but leave the fans out of the business decisions and or mishaps. It’s funny that these players talk about not getting paid on time, but we know that most of them make their money after the tournaments on side hustles, and the other games they play. Also the majority of these players are such pre-madonnas that they “order” the promoters to seed them or they will walk. So it has to be their way or the highway. I think seeding is a joke. They are such candy asses that they are scared to play another big wig because it may eliminate them early. Isn’t that what this is about; becoming victorious, claiming the title and winning the money. If you are truly that good, stop making demands, and chalk up your damn cue!

Anyway, the ABP needs not bite the hand that feeds them! You may get paid a little late, but you get paid….stop whining and thinking about no one but yourself and remember the fans that are the ones that truly pay you because without us you are nothing more than a guy down the street at the pool hall that can shoot well.

The US Open has been going on for 35+ years, regardless of payment history, Barry is doing something right, and most of you ABP jackasses made a name for yourselves through the blood sweat and tears of Behrman’s work. Stop stomping your feet and start playing pool for the fans again; this is ridiculous.

Another newbie stirring the pot. Hope you get a welcome ban

Not stirring the pot, just trying to understand the philosophy behind what they are doing and stand for. They are almost saying, "Hey, you know what, If I cant have my $40,000 cash prize as soon as I sink that 9 ball then I would rather not have it at all. How dare you pay me my $40,000 winning over a 2 month period!"......this is what they are saying and it is ridiculous.

i want to see an amicable resolution for all involved so that the game can go on. But i, as a fan, would rather not know about the business dealings, as they should be dealt with behind closed doors.

If you read the 299 plus post you would know that is not the case.
We do mot need another thread about it.
You can post your feelings on one of the several threads disrupting AZ
the last few days. Too much distraction in this soap opera

i would like to know why the pros want to be seeded into a tounament. i am sure plenty of people evey year that read this go to the derby city classic and it is a place i have been to for the last 7 years and never plan on missing again for the rest of my life and i am sure this is one tourney that survives off of the local players that play in the events. i am sure if they seed the players in the us open they will not get near as many people playing. it is the luck of the draw and the skill of the players. if they dont wanna play eachother in the first round because the other player is good then maybe they should do like all of us other shortstops or whatever the PROS wanna call us and practice and play your best every game and accept the fact if you get beat that you got beat by a better player. i play the valley state tourney every year in indiana and when i play i say it all depends on the bracket and how i play and if i get beat i accept it and shake the mans hand win or lose and wish him good luck. maybe they should remember this when they play instead of wanting to play all the weak players first so they make it to the money which is very deep unlike most tourneys and not be wanting to be givin a free ride to the cash to cover there expences because of past tournament results. heck he pays entry fees for past winners so if they want something . paractice hard play hard and if you win you have something to be pround of instead of beating shortstops the first three rounds and be in the cash. i understand that they want paid upfront but if they are told that the top few spots will have to wait for a determined amount of time then why compain after they know how the payout goes. it sound to me like a bunch of greedy guys that are crying and instead should be thaking him for the chance to make the money they have make. i am sure several of the top players that have complains have fed there family well or had fun spending the money that barry and his daughter have worked hard to give them a chance at making and if not for them there pockets would not have been as full. i think they need to grow up and get along and leave the attouneys out of this and be men about this and communicate themselves instead of having someone talk for them.. go ahead and seed the tourney and i bet they entries drop even more and he has even a harder time finding the money to pay them. i like the ideas to boycot the pros just like several of us did to the baseball teams when they went on strike years ago look at what it did to that sport. bite the hard that feeds you and see what happens.....

Want Barry to tell you how many players as soon as they have locked up any money come begging for it before the tournament is even over. Many of these guys can be ridiculous to deal with. If they are not borrowing money from you they are looking to get staked even with money in their pockets. They are for the most part completely disreputable people. How many have actually been in jail or maybe should be. It is easy to find much of their self righteous attitude a bit ironic considering the lives they lead

You answered your own question. :D But to be fair, in the debate over seeding there are valid arguments for both sides.

so if you cant rig it like i have heard that has happened in tournaments in the past from some promotions companys then seed it huh??? i think there are people out there that know who and what i am talking about...... and if you seed it do you actually think there will be the same entries or more or less i would like to know people opinion on this.... this isnt the ncaa basketball tourney..

.

what lights?

no one gives a shit.. not in America anyway..

to me the whole thing smells like hustlers pissed at their backer..

for what it's worth I'm on the pro's side when I enter tournaments I get paid after the finals.. what is so unreasonable about the tops players expecting the same??

I thought I was a dick for giving Bartram such a hard time

but the forum since this whole thing broke makes me look like his best freind LOL

I'm in awe watching this LOL

Why would you wish that on a person for expressing his opinion?
Its not like he said anything that hasn't been said before.
In fact, I think you should be banned for siding with the ABP.
You're obviously in the minority here.

i dont understand the confusion on the seeding. why do you guys here not seem to like the idea of it? in the extreme example, the 2 best players in the tournament could play first round. now, i know you will bring up the double eliminiation aspect, but if you know anything about real pool you know it doesnt even matter how great you are playing, making it all the way from the losers is virtually impossible. it has been done of course though.

do people here think tennis isnt on the ball? they seed. they are much more on it than any of our "pool people."

Everyone is missing the real question? It is not whether or not the players deserve to get paid, of coure they do, and as Barry said in his radio interview, he would love to do so...however the economy has hit everyone. The real question is why is everyone that is supposed to be for the love of pool, is willing to get rid of THE LONGEST RUNNING TOURNAMENT in the WORLD and in the history of POOL, over them getting paid a little late for the time being. And once again, most of them make their money on the side action before, during and after the tourny....not to mention the money arrangements they have already made with the other players to pool and Split their winnings so that all of them walk away with something regardless.....

oh and in reference to the post about paying the entry fee on time, most of them wait right before the event to pay their fees, and hell most of the players *****ing right now do not even have to pay an entry fee; Barry allows these jokers free entry...FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!

I am against the seeding of any tournament! But I am all for the players getting paid after the tournament. NOT, let me repeat, NOT two months after the tournament. I have played in the U.S. Open (won one match, lost two). And I watch it as much as possible. I don't believe what they are asking for is to much. Pay them the day the tournament ends or direct deposit all monies the first weekday (Monday). You do not continue to run a tournament for 35 years with out making money. Guarnatee the damn money, pay it by direct deposit. I WILL BOYCOTT for the players.

Are you seriously that dense...are you asking why does someone continue to do something for 35 years if they are not making money....damn, you just put an end to all telethons, charity events and philanthropic events..sorry if that word was too big..it means "the donation of goods, services, or money, for a good cause or to those less fortunate!"

HE HAS THE POOL TOURNAMENT YEAR AFTER YEAR FOR THE PASSION OF POOL...AND THE WELL BEING OF THE PLAYERS; HOWEVER YOU GREEDY AND INPATIENT SCHMUCKS ARE SCREWING IT UP.

Everyone talking all of this shit, I would love to see their (Players) P&L's, balance sheets, and or budgetery items for the year(s), as well as what they are currently working with in liquid assets....

id like to hear some arguments against the seeding. im not even aware of what they are. i didnt know people didnt like seeding like this. if you are aa great player (the type i would think people want to watch), seeding encourages their participation, without it.... they feel they could easily lose on expenses. why do u want the best players on the fence with respect to their participation? any explinations appreciated :)
