Accu-Stats Videos Commentary

Show some love for the Beard

He is far and away the FUNNIEST commentator out of all of them. One of my favorite quotes from him was "It would take an intervention from Mother Kabrina for him not to get out from here". Where does he come up with this stuff??? Go Beard!

Chris

grady - funniest, great one hole knowledge, and kicking/strategy insight in all games. he's my all around knowledge/entertainment fav, he'll never be beat. he has a perfect commentating style for a game that's, lets face it, not so perfect. there will never be another one like him; i just wish we would all realize that.

billy - great one hole and strategy insight in all games, but especially one hole

buddy - you simply cant call 9ball position routes any better, and "when to go" vs when to play safe calls. i think he is the most valuable commentator in 9ball, and a great one hole commentator as well (but i prefer billy's more common sense tactical approach to 1hole)

wilson - he's good, very analytical, obviously very intelligent (maybe too intelligent, haha)

annigoni - i like him, somebody said he's the worst?

diliberto - there is a reason why a guy who excecuted this good never won any one hole tournaments. people disagree with me on this, but if offensive ability was equal with all players, diliberto would have gotten robbed his entire life by all the actual one hole players, excecution means so much though.

Some help please

Hello all...

Ok..for those Grady loving folks out there if I could get you to chime in with some answers it would help greatly.

Would you prefer

A: just stories and interviews
B: instructional and stories pertaining to the "lesson"
C: q&a session
d:instructional alone

Would you want to see them

Once a week?
Twice a month?
Once a month?

Thanks,

Rick

I think this may be confusing to some people unless they saw some other threads where it was hinted that grady would do some kind of pool show. We were mostly talking about commentating on matches (rather than lessons/instructionals) in this thread.

I think A: is no good because even though stories are good, I wouldn't sit down and watch anyone just tell stories. Stories are great for short little 5 minute clips (which is what propoolvideo.com used to do).

Grady's massive amount of pool knowledge would be wasted doing just "A".

B: makes a lot of sense. If a story didn't exactly pertain to the lesson, but it could be snuck in there without seeming like 'filler', I'd welcome that too.

C: naw. I think if someone wants to write/email grady and he finds a really good question, he can address it in a future 'episode'.

D: this is a waste of grady's storytelling ability :)

Frequency: Once a week sounds perfect.

I love working on the Accu-Stat matches because I know I am talking to a real pool crowd. And I'm always working with an excellent co-commentator. Plus I don't feel censored in any way. I can slip in a story about my co-com once in a whiole or about one of the guys playing, and it all fits.

Pat Fleming is the best pool director by far. Too bad ESPN never saw fit to hire him and produce their shows. He could make their shows so much better. Especially if he could pick the commentators and cameramen. He gives every other director I've ever worked with the five ball. SkySports has produced the best overall productions I have yet seen on regular television. Some of the Matchroom events were first class all the way. And always full length matches, none of that short sh-t that ESPN has convinced American promoters to accept. Barry Hearn would never go for that crap. He is a sports purist.

Didjn't read all the posts, but I have a ton of 3c Accustats tapes and my favorites,...in addition to Mr. Byrne:rolleyes::eek::smile:(he is on all that have commentary), are Carlos Hallon and Sayginer.

The accu-stats commentary is almost always top of the line. Of all of the accu-stats commentators, the 2 commentators that provide the most bang for the buck as a team by far are Billy Incardona and Danny Diliberto. Those 2 play better from the announcer's booth that anyone else. Incardona is almost always dead on accurate with his analysis of the game, and Diliberto tells some great stories and has a vast amount of pool knowledge. You can't get any better pool commentary anywhere than those 2 together as a team.

Over the years I've built a very large collection of videos from Accu-Stats. I've always loved the commentary of the guys in the booth. I've gained a ton of inside knowledge just by watching matches. The guys that I have enjoyed the most over the years was the combo of Grady Matthews and Billy Incardona. It's not just the tips they would share the digs they take at each other are just hilarious. I watch the matches on ESPN and ESPN Classic and they just don't seem to offer the same chemistry that these guys pulled off. Which commentators do you feel give you the most bang for your buck when you purchase these videos?

Cardone is my favorite commentator on Accustat 1p matches - but I heard Shannon commentate in some other venues and his one pocket analysis was terrific.

Incardona and Shannon Daulton did an awesome job doing commentary for the Efren SVB ten ball challenge match. I'd never heard Shannon do commentary before, and we was damn good.

I have a video where Billy asks about shooting a shot a specific way and Buddy proceeds to ask "you would not seriously think about playing that..." and then starts to laugh. Billy responds by telling Buddy that laughing at the suggestion is not very nice. Probably the funniest commentary moment I have ever heard.

That's great. Incardona is the grand master of calling out other people on bad shot selection.

Sorry I didn't mean to confuse anyone ..this was the thread I was sent to see...so I came and saw it...lol..

I agree with you on your choices above. Thanks

Danny Diliberto is the best commentator accu-stats has ever had. He has more pool knowledge than just about anybody, and his storytelling is second to none. He's got a lot of great one liners too...

"He overcut the rent money on that shot"
"His backer just took a big shot of whiskey after that shot"
"He must be from Kentucky" after a player makes a bank shot
"He'll be sleepin' on the streets" after a player misses a shot

You should get Corey Deuel to do commentary with you again, Jay. You guys should work together on a regular basis.
