Action Challenge I DVD Review.

Earlier in the week I received my DVD order from the Action Report of the First Action Challenge of Shane Van Boening vs. Corey Deuel in a race to 100 of 10-ball.

The quality on the DVD is GREAT. The picture is extremely clear and has 1 stationary camera at the foot of the table camera pointed downward showing the full table. The Commentary is great, nothing short of what you would expect from Grady Matthews and Billy Incardona.

The packaging is pretty nice too. 1 DVD case that is made for 8 dvds. The DVD case is about the thickness of 2 and half normal DVD cases. Nice cover work done as well. The match spans across all 8 DVDs. Each has a little menu screen with only the 1 option of playing the match, but there is nothing more you need. Real professional look all around.

I only had time to watch the first disc so far and I love it. I think I am going to take next weekend and watch the entire thing. I would love to have been there to experience it in person, but this really is the next best thing.

Good job to The Action Report for putting together one hell of a match, one hell of a DVD set, and one hell of a price on it too.

I can't wait for future releases, these will be great additions to any pool video library.

I cant wait to order mine. I am sure that it is worth it for the hours and hours of play, but $75 for a movie still kicks me in the groin pretty hard. I will have to save up for it so that I do not realize what I just spent 75 on.

Well, it is 14+ hours of pool.

Consider it 7+ movies. 75 bucks is a hell of a price for 7 movies.

its eight discs, 14 hours of pool. I personally got to watch some of it with Shane at State this past weekend. Shane knows everything on the match, he came up to me and asked me what the score was, as they didn't have it displayed, and the volume wasn't very high so i said i don't know and he said he remembers this game, its where he misses the three ball. My first time getting to see a Pro in action, and i can tell you it was a great experience, each time i got to sit and just watch him play made me inspired to play. For the match i think it was 70 bucks and a well spent 70 bucks.

I got mine and it's sooooooooo freakin worth the price from and educational stand point.
99% of us here can improve our games just by watching these dvds over and over, replaying shots to gain an understanding of how the game is actually played at a world class level and to see for sure which shots we each need to add to our games and why.
It's win, win business.

JCIN unfortunately you are never going to be able to please everyone. Everyone is a critic.

I also purchased this as soon as it became available along with every other DVD they offer. So far I am about halfway thru the 4th DVD.

Icon Of Sin is correct about the quality. It is great. Didn't surprise me because I watched this live and was very surprised how excellent the stream was.

Watching this reminds me of the many hours I've spent watching the Color of Money match between Efren and Earl. I always thought how great that match would have been with Billy & Grady. Now we get two of the current top young players in the world with these world class commentators and it's such a pleasure to watch.

If you are a fan of watching top quality pool this is without a doubt the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for all the kind words from everyone. This DVD set has been one of those things that if I knew what it took to do it before I started, I might not have started.

Now that the sets have been out for a while most opinions are good but there are a couple of issues. One we can fix, one we learned from.

It looks like there is a problem with disc 4. It is cutting off at a little over an hour into the disc. I have it narrowed down to a bad master or a problem with the duplicator. If anyone has their disc 4 do this please email me at justin@theactionreport.com with their mailing address and I will send out a new disc 4 early this week.

The other problem is that the audio on the set is, in my opinion, good, but there are a couple of spots where there are some noise from the commentators taking off mics to take a break or in a few places the levels are a little low on one mic. We have learned from this and it will be much better in the future.

If anyone has any other problems or issues with the sets please let me know. I don't mean " I wish there was more cameras". I mean "I put in disc 5 and all there is on it is Asian midget porn" or some other problem with actual DVDs themselves.

If that is on disk five, I think it makes the set even more of a great deal
