Action in the Northeast

Moot point on that issue. Of course his partner should have been watching, but the short and thick of it was that many more locals were around sweating the match, and "nobody saw anything".

Scumbags.

What do you guys expect? Liljon goes up and plays Tony Ruberto and gets heisted for $17,000.00 while he is in the bathroom, and you think people want to gamble big up there?

I mean, I know this occurred in Boston, and probably it's not like that everywhere in the NE, but damn... $17,000.00! Basically, everyone in the pool hall when it happened was compliant in the heist, and no one said anything.

It speaks volumes about the area, I believe. It would be completely different if someone came in with a gun. These things happen. But for a bunch of regulars to rape a road player in this way, BAD JUJU is coming back your way.

Mmmmm mmmm... that's some tasty juju!

when did this happen?

Original thread, where liljon is just mad, and confused as hell as to what to do about the situation...

Follow up thread, details Tony's response where he "threatens amnesia" about the whole event, rather than try to find out who took the money... All because he didn't like liljon coming online and "talking sh!t" about the situation.

South of the Border

What has happened to all the action in the New England states. I hear stories that don't date back that far. What has happened? Am I the only person that will play.

There's action south of the border at least 1k per set. They were looking for action today.

my question about that is wasnt anyone there with liljon watching the money?

Yes, Liljon had a partner with him, and due to the long hours of play, his friend fell asleep in the chair, while Liljon was battling it out with Tony R.

Russ that did hurt Tony's action and really put a bad rep on Boston rooms and players that is not what killed action in the Northeast. The economy is the biggest killer up here. People just don't have the extra spendable cash like they did in years past. I started playing about 10 years ago and I could go to the room on any night of the week and there would be 6 to 10 regulars there. You could play anyone from a D player to a strong short stop for anywhere from split time to $$$ a set. Now there are only a few regulars and most want to split the time or play for it.

I remember such days. Unfortunately, it has little to do with the economy or smoking. Its just that folks have wised up. Most good players don't want to set up a fair game with someone who isnt' an "A" player, so why should someone like me bust my hump to get into a money match where I'll be humiliated ? Guaranteed, its not about the money. You'll see ex players down at the casinos pissing away $100 at the drop of a hat. Or win and lose a fortune at poker. A couple of times a year, I piss $2K away in Vegas or Reno. I'd be happy to play for a tenth of that if I got something for my money.

Joe P used to do it right, for a while. He'd play cheap short sets all day long and by the end of the day, he'd have a day's pay. He taught a bit through the match so you felt like you got something out of it. Today, no one can seem to be bothered to play for cheap.

I remember Bobby Hunt and he used to play the Joss tour. I've seen action at Snookers, especially at ten ball.
