ActionReport: How about a CD/SVB rematch in 9-ball?

You MUST be kidding! He finished 2nd...that is hardly 'throwing' the tournament, nor playing poorly. I know Shane, and he has far too much class to dump ANY match. I also talked to him just before the match with Orcullo. He wasn't nervous in any way, shape or form. Dennis just played better that match...

Don't forget that he beat Dennis out of a good chunk of change that week too. I said that's one of his poorer performances. He missed a lot of shots in that match. Like I said before, the cameras may have gotten to him. He was never televised before that.

10-ball is just 9-ball with an extra ball, its not gonna be a difference.
If it was the same game but with an extra ball, why wouldn't the entire SVB contingent be racing to play Corey some rack your own 9 ball? They played rack your own 10 ball. By your logic, it would just be one less ball for Shane to have to pocket every rack.

Get real. The break of the balls, not to mention the lack of an extra one, makes the two totally different. 10 ball traditionally favors the weaker breaker unless you are playing on a racetrack like the match was played on this weekend. 9 ball has typically favored the power breaker except that CD outsmarted the game and learned to pattern rack and break at a consistent speed thus giving him consistency rack after rack.

Shane may well be able to outrun CD playing this way but it is definitely a different animal.

its a totally different game, for B players up to champions. For weak players then yes your correct its just an extra ball, but for players B speed or better the whole dynamics, rythem of the game is totally different than 9B.

I was watching the match live last night -- and was so focused on watching the play that I missed some of the commentating, but some people in the chat room told me that Incardona said that he would favor Shane over ANYONE in 10-ball. I want to know if he really said that.
Yes he said it on Friday night. Basically he said that if Shane continued to play like he was at that time no one in the world could beat him. I agree. I have been watching pool for 20 years and it was the most dominant performance I have ever seen. He was playing perfect. Hard to beat that.

I seem to play better in 10B...maybe because I like it better

Everyone was impressed with SVB's convincing victory over Corey playing 10-ball. Any thoughts of having a rematch with Corey playing 9-ball? Just thought I'd stick that one out there. SVB IS the world 10-ball champ, so I don't think it was much of a stretch to believe he could win.

Would anyone else want to see the two play 9-ball?
Corey has already stated he wants to play again. As far as 9 ball, I hope the game dies a quick death. When is the last time you saw 2 top pros match up for high stakes playing 9 ball? Compare those occasions to the number of 10 ball matches. You will notice a trend.

I have been to a lot of events this year. The 10 ball action has far outnumbered the 9ball match ups.

Anyone who watched the match can tell you that Shane just played outstanding. When and if they play again it could go the other way. I think everyone who is claiming Corey only has a shot playing "his game" is selling a proven Champion way too short.

I saw cj play mark tadd in vegas in 92 and win(he crushed mark for 20 dimes), thats how shane played the other night, that dosent happen often-perfect pool. nobody can fade that, dosent matter who it is. the trick is for shane to keep playing like that where ever he is at all times-i believe he will more often than not and beat the world. He has everything to do it-just add water.:)

I watched in amazement. He played perfect 10 ball. Corey made only a few misakes and Shane just played perfect pool. As you said.. nobody can fade that.

I agree with the 9 ball assessment. 10 ball is the new action game and I think pool will be the better for it.

I also completely agree that people are selling Corey way short.

Question: I thought that I read somewhere that Buddy was to be one of the commentators. What happened to that? (I've asked this before... sorry if I missed the answer on another thread)

buddy hall....

Thanks, but I don't need directions to Nunya. I think some kind of response from the action report gents is in order, whether that reply is a square answer or another nunya is up to them.

We have no problem disclosing are arrangements with the players. They are better than anything I have heard of. We have not discussed making it public with them though, so I am not going to put their business out in public.

We told them to tell anyone they like about the deal, but out of respect for them we are not going to discuss it unless they say its ok.

I think that is a good policy. There is no need to hide anything.....it was still action and they were still betting real $$$$. I hope you do well in the future events and I hope the DVD's are a big hit.

D<-- heard a little about the arrangement through the grapevine.
