Admin Abuse Of Power

I might regret posting this but I am only human and this has really been bothering me. It might not sit well for some and for that I am sorry. But it's how I feel about this situation from my own experience.

I feel for the OP and can see where he's coming from. Sure he dropped some F-bombs, sure he was aggressive from the start with his thread title. But here's a guy who loves pool. He's a life long collector. He's decided for one reason or another to liquidate his collection and has some really cool, affordable stuff for sale.

Aside from the aggression and f-bombs, to me this is exactly the type of guy we need in the for sale section of a cult billiard related forum. This guy is wheeling and dealing, moving his collection. He's not trying to flip high end cues for a big margin. We need more guys like this with cool and affordable stuff who's willing to make a deal. I would say we need less high end cue flippers looking to hit grand slams who rarely sell anything here to the general population.

Maybe set up a private section for the cue flippers??

Yes, the OP made some errors in his posting. But I also think when a Mod arbitrarily continues to delete his threads without an explanation after the poster has asked repeatedly is an issue too. We have Mods that kindly send a message to the member with a very short explanation of why the thread was deleted. I don't think a short explanation as to why a thread was deleted is too much to ask for.

I can tell you that a few months ago I had a thread deleted from the for sale section without an explanation. I asked why it was deleted in a PM. More than a few days later I received an ambiguous response, something like "I review thousands of posts so I can't remember exactly. But must have been your fault because you must have not followed the rules and included a photo, price or specs of what you were selling. Have you reviewed the rules?".

This really pissed me off too since I spent a few hours making the post and I could not get an exact answer as to why my thread was deleted.

I was selling roughly (40) very old maple shaft blanks for next to nothing because I felt that some members would like to have it. I provided pricing, photos and specs. Every shaft was different so I invested the time to provide a table and numbered the shafts listing weight, length, dimensions, etc.. But my shitty little $30 shaft blank thread didn't meet the standard and got deleted.

So I can honestly see why the OP is pissed.

There are many pool related groups on Facebook. Sell your items there. Problem solved.

Not a fan of public complaining. You could have reached out to Mike for resolution vs. making your (personal) issue public.

Good luck.
I’m admin of many facebook cue groups 😂😂😂.
I don’t wanna say much , but these type of post will hurt the author in the long run. You should reach out to whoever involved n if doesn’t work try someone else. IMO

and just because you use some words in life does not mean those words go into print. probably can use the first and last letter of it, i dont know that but that may be the solution.

and the npr is like a child's sand box. no real rules except common courtesy. if you dont like what is going on, get out of the sand box, or instead try to fit in. or go build your own and see who comes to it.,

Hey man... I am just trying to say... The mods run the forum the way they wanna run it... And there's not a lot of thought that goes into what is "fair", and for the general good fo the forum, in my experience. To me, that comes from the site owner letting their administrators justdo whatever they want. For this subforum, it works fine, as there are not a ton of super controversial subjects that come up, that admins need to flex their muscles on.

The Buy/Sale forum? Probably has an admin that has gotten tired over the long term of people who abuse that forum, and that colors how they respond to someone who is not yet in the "cool club". So... Not a ton of fair and balanced moderation there.

I am simply saying there are reasons why the moderators are not gonna be fair and balanced... And much of it has to do with them being allowed to run things however they like, because the site owner doesn't have much interest in the day to day functioning of the forums, and doesn't wanna be bothered.

Russ, have you looked down at your feet lately? Consider where you are standing. Those on the left are "more liberal", those not on the left are "far right". Could be an issue with your feet or your eyesight.

Many of us think for ourselves. Doing that often leaves me in a centrist position, sometimes with the right, sometimes with the left. I don't really care if a position aligns with the right or left, much more important to be the right position.

Believe me. Both Cleiton and I responded to OP and were both very polite (as opposed to OP) in trying to explain things. Those explanations were not sufficient and the level of messages from OP escalated to accusations of favoritism. Basically the same sort of accusations that were leveled at the start of this thread.

There has never seemed to be an instance of OP stopping and thinking about the explanations being given to him. He started this thread and multiple users tried explaining things to him. When his responses escalated to the F bomb, I dropped the ban hammer for a week. OP has 2000+ messages on the site. He can't claim he didn't know about the F Bomb rule. Yes, in the past when a new user has dropped an F bomb, I have sent them a note asking them to change it. Those weren't messages like OP's though. "F*ck off" is a pretty egregious use of the word and I personally made the decision to drop the hammer.

Do I think OP understood why his messages were deleted? No

How much time you got?

How much time ya got?
My Wife would have the best answer to that question...Though at our age, the more time I spend here, the less she gets chased around the kitchen.
😉
10 years ago she hated my being on the site. Now it seems that either God has answered her prayers, or she found a different God.
🤷 😁

Got it. Sounds like there was plenty of explanations given before the OP fired off his accusations. But in the OP's first post it reads as if there wasn't an explanation.

I related that to my case when my single little $30 shaft blank thread was deleted without an explanation. I still don't know why my thread was deleted.

Based on all that and to keep the peace my one and only point is that a brief explanation as to why a thread or a comment has been deleted doesn't sound unreasonable.
