Advice for a new tip

Hey guys I haven't posted on this forum in a long time and I'm a little out of the loop as far as tips go. I did a search but the word tip or tips is too small.

So I'm looking for a new tip. I've been playing with Moori's for years, but I'd like something different because mine gloss over pretty quick. I actually went back to triangles for a couple of months but I wear them out quick. What brands are popular right now? Any feedback would be appreciated. The only tip I've heard of at my pool hall is something like Kamui. Anyone know about them?

I agree

I like snipers as well, just wish they were more of a brown color rather than the light blue or grey.

Talisman layered tips are pretty good as well. I too was tired of the glazing over that I got with the Morri's so I switched and have never looked back

I went and visited Cory at Tiger yesterday and he put a new sniper on my Scruggs in about a minute and I love how much that one little change can have a huge positive effect a cue.

Thanks Cory

And go get 'em this weekend.

another vote for sniper from me, they are my favorite, and i've tried just about everything

i havent tried either yet, but i do have 2 shafts waiting for one of each, but it does seem as though the sniper and kamui are the big kids on the block atm with the most positive response.

Snipers deffinately rock.......................right now I am trying out the Hurcules tip though! I will get back with ya on what I think about them.

One more vote for the Tiger Sniper. They maintain their shape well, plus u can really juice up the Q ball.

lol. Really funny. I was going to post sniper also. I just finished reading all of the posts. I lately have tried Morris and Kamuis on my Gilbert. I bought a Mottey and put a sniper on it. I absolutely love it. For me its just perfect. Go with a sniper, you wont regret it. Yes its not my first choice for color, but for the performance, a small price to pay.

Talisman and Sniper are two great tips. If you do the install yourself I would say Everest or Talisman. Sniper is tricky. Talisman can be somewhat sensitive for some. Delamination...

Funny though, if Sniper does it the guy installing it is a moron. If Talisman does it - (never seen or heard it myself) - the guy making the tip is a moron.

FWIW, I played with a Hercules on my Jacoby, the standard Everest that came on my Predators(which have been sold,) and have a sniper on my Frey SP. I like the sniper the best, hercules next, and the everest comes in third. Ironically, my fav. cues come in with the Frey at #1, Jacoby #2, and a Predator #38403. I do really like using my Jacoby to break with, especially with the hercules tip. I have a lot of control with cue ball, and get a real nice spread of balls across the table.

I can't speak for Snipers but I have used and installed many Talisman tips. I have about i in 20 that will loose the last layer during shaping and I will have to reshape a little. They hold chalk well last almost forever and do not glaze. The best part is you can buy them from a well know billiard supplier for 5 bucks each when you buy 3 or more. I am a little Sniper curious though.

hi

I used Moori M and Sniper among several others.

Cuemaster98 sold me Molavia M and its a lot better than these two for me.

It mushroom after a while but once fixed it stays ok.

a few people mentioned they like the classic brown color better than the sniper grey. i found that you can color the sides of the sniper tip to make it brown if you like that. i use a 'scratch fix' pen from KJ miller, made originally to touch up furniture. you can get various shades of brown, i use dark brown. be careful with it though, mask off the ferrule and watch how much you put on the tip. burnishes nicely.
