Remove the bumper and it should have some numbers that help you answer that question.
Ken
Yeah, I'm aware there should be a serial # in there, but I don't want to remove the bumper until someone who knows how the # would correspond to the year posts something on the thread. I could take it off, but I have no idea whatsoever what the serial # would imply. Thanks, though.
It really should be as simple as removing the bumper and calling the shop.

No worries. I understand hesitating. Even just removing the bumper can seem like messing with such a nice cue.
But I am here to help. Send me the cue and I will expertly remove the bumper and take close up pictures for your records. To do so will require daily playing for a couple of weeks as the vibrations properly loosen the bumper screw. Any other method is highly questionable.

I don't mean to push the issue, but there is no complex assembly to worry about disrupting: The butt cap isn't going to come off and there should be no weight bolt to worry about.I'll one-up you on that, Doc... pm me your address and I'll bring it to you ( for the same reason I drove across state to get it, I just don't trust any shipping service with it ). And I understand you're very busy so if it takes a couple of months, so be it. Even a year or more, I'm ok with that. And by all means, feel free to play with it as much as you need to. I only hit a couple balls with it and MAN does it feel nice.
Thanks, Doc... I had a feeling you would be the one here to extend your hand to help. I deeply appreciate it.
Just found my cue on a cue site. It's listed as a Model # Tad-4-P, if this will help anyone.

If you can turn a screw and dial a phone number, you can have your answer in a few minutes.
I'm pretty sure that's a JOSS and not a TAD.
Looks like someone slipped a TAD ring on a JOSS butt.
I had a friend who is a cuemaker at the room this evening take a look at it. It's an allen screw but I do not have allen wrenches and he did not have a set with him. He is going to try to remember to put a set in the car and the next time i see him at the room, he'll get it off and we'll see what the serial # is. Sometime fairly soon after I'll call JJ cues and see what I can find out.
It's nothing earth-shattering. I simply am interested to see when it was made or at least the range of years. I was hoping someone here would know merely by seeing the photo or having the model #. It appears that won't be the case. C'est la vie. It will all work out in the end, I'm sure.

Yeah right. Seriously???????I'm pretty sure that's a JOSS and not a TAD.

You know BS used to be here in Tulsa. From '74-'78 iirc. He made a lot of nice cues here. From the mid-70's thru the early 90's just about every good player around here had a JW. It was great being able to just go his shop for a tip or a wrap. Good times.Yeah, I was pretty surprised too, Gar! But what the hell, right? Tad, Joss, Adam, Viking... they're all pretty much the same, once you get up @ 400.00, right? Like i said to him, dang, I've always wanted a nice Joss, so now I have one! I LOVE this place!!!
