Agh, Why Not?!?!?

That wrap was suggested to me from the beginning, but there's NO white in the cue...So really, how can you think it would look right? The ONLY white on this cue are the "hoppe ring" and the ferrule, but there's plenty of black and green in this cue, which is why I chose the wrap it has. IMO, this cue is the cats' a$$ the way it is, and it will stay this way. Thanks for the suggestion, but I gladly disagree with it :D
All the white in the cue is Ivory, I like the way the cue looks, but the white and green wrap would bring in the ivory inlays in the points, and the green in the cue. poolrod.

Awesome

I really like everything about the cue. As you might guess I prefer Hoppe butt cues.

My only suggestion would have been white with green specked linen wrap. But if you use the cue, and think you might get it rewrapped in the future something to think about.

I just got my Rick Howard cue rewrapped and I went with a black linen and I could believe how well it turned out.

I have great respect for Bob's work so I'm not knocking the cue, it's lovely. However, the decal is in fact upside down. I don't believe that it's done that way so you can pick out the Pred. shaft while in the case because that could be done regardless of which direction the decal is.

What causes me greater concern are the white blotches surrounding the decal. Maybe it's just the lighting.

The difference in the wght. of the pins becomes a mute point when using an ounce & 1/4 ss joint collar.

Yes, its the lighting. I'm not a great photographer with my crummy camera. The Predator logo was NOT put that way to pick it out in the case, but you'd have to ask the man himself as to why he did it...I'm not saying something wrong and having it blow up in my face again. Just ask him, he knows best. I have discussed the weight issue of the pins with Bob, and the pin no longer makes a difference, he got it worked out :D NOW I wish I'd have gone with that pin for more "feel" :( :D :D But IMO the cue still plays great for me :D

thanks, but no

Thanks for the suggestion on the wrap Ken...I've heard it many times now, but for as long as I'm alive and owning this cue, this cue will NEVER have a white/green specs linen wrap on it. I don't think it would look right, and I'm VERY happy with it as it is, so it'll stay this way :D

Jeff, I like everything about this cue. Too each his own about the linen color, but my favorite is green w/white specks. I don't have it on any of my cues because it shows dirt so easily. With that said, I think you made a good choice.

Arggh, why not indeed! I guess I'll respond.

Not trying to single you out by responding to your post, KJ, but your list is easier to reply to:

I put the decals on upside down because I can.

The white blotches are in the wood itself. If you look closely, you can see that the blotchiness is mainly confined to one segment of the maple. It is actually curly maple. The other blotch is a similar situation, though not as regular.

I agree that the weight of the pin is a non-issue. I don't think I was clear when discussing this with Jeff. I just mentioned that the Flat bottomed pin was heavier without mentioning options with the joint collar that will compensate.

Personally, I like white/green, too but I wasn't the buyer.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the explanation on the spots. I see what you're saying now about them being in the same segment. Sometimes maple can get a little iridescent, especially BI or curl.

I'm not saying another word about your decal placement. Do it anyway you like, it differentiates yours from the rest. I'll let you in on a little secret of mine. I do all of Seybert's to look exactly like Predator's own and that's the way it should be. But on my own cues that I build with a Predator shaft, I cut the panther off the bottom and just display the larger '314'. And like you, 'because I can'. That, and I'm not real fond of cats. LOL.

... Actually, this is just a bump to show off my new pic of my cue, that I made in a program that I bought a while ago but never explored. I'm finding the capabilities are astounding!

enjoy the pic guys, Jeff (its also in the first post)

Why me??? I take a little vacation from AZ only to find this post welcoming me back.

I strive for a fairly discreet logo & copyright (hint, hint) symbol only to find it going up in vivid flames.

I know it's fun playing with images but when you see a copyright symbol, please use some restraint. If you absolutely cannot resist the urge to play, please play with your own name.

Here's something to get you started:

Lighten up, Jeff. It is the Festivus Season, you know. It was time for the "Airing of Grievances". I guess I was hoping for a Festivus Miracle.

Looks like the flames thing is your logo in the picture, like it was put there from you. So doubt its really over-reacting, since the picture has your copyright on it.
But as you said it is the festivus season, and its time to get out the pole.

I'm a new guy with minimal working knowledge of cues... but I gotta' say it's sure easy to appreciate the workmanship. Very nice, congrats

And Now

The Feats of Strength!

Festivus doesn't end until someone pins the head of the family in a wrestling match...
