What struck me about yesterday's matches was the speed of the two matches Sky and Archer were in. They took a really, really, really long time. The next round of matches was beginning, and Sky and Archer's matches were still going from the previous round.
Not sure if their opponents were slow. Slow play really stinks up a tournament chart, big time. Everybody has to wait.
I hope Sky does not get intimidated by veteran Johnny Archer's table demeanor, to include his killer instinct. It can be overwhelming if you haven't encountered it before. Off the table, Johnny is a nice guy. On the table, he pulls out all the punches and does whatever it takes to win. It takes a veteran to combat some tactics used in the heat of the battle. It will be interesting to see how Sky handles him.![]()
It should be close. Sky has the better speed control of the two, and this format rewards good tactical play. Johnny may run out a little better, but this match should be a tight one. To be fair, both of them have the killer instinct that adds up to success.
No doubt there have been a few slow matches, but this tournament has really been running on schedule all week, and that's good news for players and fans alike.
