Here's an interesting (For Hitchcock fans) paperback cover I ran across. There seems to be no pool story inside, though.

Wow....you see Alfred digging into that cloth?

A pendulum stroke and a long bridge is a bad combination.

Back in the days of black and white TVs...and cars as big as ocean liners...
...I remember Alfred opening his show with the news he had bought a European sports car..
..."However" he said "I neglected to buy one for the other foot."

Q: Whaddaya call it when Alfred Hitchcock is in dead stroke?

A: The Twilight Zone

Badum tiss* Thanks, I'll be here all night.

This is misinformation, and most definitely NOT true.

Scott, what you know is not written in stone....it MAY be true for you.
I use a shortish bridge and the pendulum for anything below center....
...except when I'm reaching on a shot.
I know many players that are similar.
For ME, the tip goes down too soon on a long bridge...
...gotta drop the elbow a bit.

His mistake was to choke up on the cue.

I tend to hold the cue long....I had Mike Johnson make me a cue with the linen going
almost to the butt plate...got the idea off Buddy Hall.
...so I don't have the problem of holding the cue short except for finesse shots.

I just went and tried drawing with a long bridge again....
...my elbow drops a bit every time.

And when I was an active player, I could draw....not Nevel's ability....
...but a lot more than most players.

Pt, our friend Scott had his ass handed to him in another thread and is a bit piqued.
I agree with you. A pendulum stoke in combination with a long bridge is inviting disaster. :)
