Who would be on your dream team, comprised of just American players, to play against a team comprised of players from the rest of the world in an all-around format? Say the format was 10-ball race to 11, 8-ball race to 9, one-pocket race to 7 and banks race to 7.

Mine would be:

1. Larry Nevel
2. Corey Deuel
3. Shannon Daulton
4. Gabe Owen
5. Cliff Joyner

3. Larry Nevel
4. Danny Harriman
5. Jason Miller

*If one of the proposed games were 14.1, my line up would change a lot.

I don't know as though I could narrow it to five players, but number one on my list would be Johnny Archer.

Really? For an all-around? He's one of the people I wouldn't expect to be on anyone's list. I've never seen or heard of him playing one-pocket or banks. Not knocking your pick, just found it surprising.

Go ahead and form your Team USA and we, BMPAP, will try and get sponsors for a USA vs Philippines All-around in the format you've specified. We wanted to do a world team challenge anyway and now have local TV as partner network plus webstreaming getting ready for the rest of the world to be able to follow the event. Let's get the great USA-Philippines partnership, whose history in all aspects including pool go way back, be the initial offering of World Team Challenge.

Our Team Philippines: (Seniors)
1. Efren Reyes
2. Francisco Bustamante
3. Alex Pagulayan
4. Ronnie Alcano
5. Dennis Orcullo

Alternates:
1. Lee Van Corteza
2. Roberto Gomez

Team Philippines (Juniors)
1. Mark Mendoza
2. Jomar de Ocampo
3. Renemar David
4. Johann Chua
5. Mike Takayama

Alternares:
1. Patrick Gonzales
2. William Millares

Want to help put this thing together?

I would most certainly like to see a team Taiwan and Team Europe thrown in there and see who will remain the last team standing.

Maybe a team event should also consist of at least 1 female player.

Eventually we'll have every nation/continent represented but for now we'll start with the longstanding partners for the preview match.

We need to do it here in the Philippines as it is here that we have "the" SRO live audience, TV coverage and non-pool related industry sponsors. Plus the BMPAP officials have a lot of clout in all levels of society.

Amang Parica should be a shoo-in the Senior's Team. Although of course i understand that he's living in the US. Also Rudolfo Luat who placed 2nd behind Efren i think in 2007 in DCC Masters of the Table (see http://www.azbilliards.com/thepros/2000showtourney2007.cfm?eventnum=20).

Hehehe... I have another reason to go home. :D

I dont know how you could leave out Johnny Archer (90's player of the decade), Corey (soft break) Duel (player of the year a little while back) or the extremely hot SVB (current player of the year).

...uh and of course yours truly!

It is supposed to be an all around team.

Okay, okay, easy there Tex! Alright, I will pick up Cliff!

Personally, I dont think I have enough data on everyones ability in every game to truely make an all around decision.

It's okay, I'm not riled. Hell it's not even 7 am here and I ain't even had my second shot of whiskey yet.

I donn't think many on here do have enough data. I just based mine on their ability to play multiple games. I know that when talking about 1-pocket many of them laugh at Archer saying he doesn't have the first clue how to play the game, but that he donn't miss much. Gabe Jeremy and Danny play all games at least real well and I've always felt Matlock was the most versatile player since,,, maybe The MIZ.

For the format listed:

Cliff Joyner
Gabe Owen
Shannon Daulton
Jason Miller
Larry Nevel

However, if something like this were to go off - anyone who likes the US end of it against the Phillipines ... the window is open wide enough to drive a U-haul through.

I know it has been beaten into the ground but I still find it humorous......3 of your 5 live in the same city and all the action in G'ville is on the golf course.

Unfortunately the MIZ has passed away, but he was a great one.

7 am and haven't had your second shot yet? ....sissy boy! :D :D :D

I once played in a tournament sponsored by Canadian Club and everyone received a fifth of whiskey. We had one fifth left, between three of us, after the bar closed and drank it with our coffee at breakfast. Then opened a 7 am bar and started gambling again! Oh those were the days. Can't and don't want to do that anymore!
