Any body tried a BAT Trainer by Alison Fisher. Good, bad, or just a gimic?

I have played with one from a local supplier for thirty minutes or so and in my humble opinion it sucks. He brought it and the Jeannette Lee sponsored spider laser trainer over to my house to see what they were like and to get some comparisons. The Jeannette Lee sponsored one was fun and can give the Allison one the six and snaps.--Leonard

seems to me is just a more expensive version of the Elephant Balls Ghost Ball Trainer? the little white thing you lay on the table, if you know what i am talking about.

I disagree.

If you are trying to learn an aiming system that uses quarters, its the best tool there is.

I think there is more to aiming than cutting the object ball into quarters.

I agree.

You asked for opinions on the product. I gave you mine. Sorry it wasn't the opinion you wanted.

That is not a problem, I was hoping many had experence with the BAT.

I've used it while visiting one of the instructors on this forum. It can be helpful if you use it the correct way and learn from what it tells you. It showed me a thing or two about my stroke/aim that I didn't realize. I don't think it's worth $40 though, maybe I would pay $20?

Thanks for the opinion. Think ill pass on the BAT trainer...;)

I wonder how many of these type of pool trainers would have sold 20 years ago? My guess is next to none. Today people want a short cut and don't mind paying for it. Of course just about none of them work to help your game. First read a few books on pool that other GOOD pollplayers say are good. Get a few lessons for your basics, and PRACTICE. It's as simple as that. Johnnyt

PRACTICE!. Does this mean that by watching a few videos, reading some books, and buying the BAT I cannot become a pro player?

How about if I buy a expensive cue stick, will that make me play better?

One of the best players that I have ever met and played against has never read any books or watched any videos. He is close to 80, and still one of the best around. He played against and hung with Cornbred. He told me that he doesn't believe in any of that stuff because everyone sees and does stuff differently and the only way to get better is practicing to become consistent and experimenting on CB behavior.

IF you learn how to stroke straight and really hit the contact point, you'd play sporty.
