Amazing Consecutive 8 Racks by Wu (videos)

So first everybody was complaining that Wu is too heavy, now people are complaining about him being skinny....go figure:rolleyes: How many of us have perfect figures? I know I sure don't LOL!

What does having a good figure have to do with playing great pool? Wu won the world championship (s:) ) overweight, Archer is fairly skinny doesn't seem to affect his game, I don't see what the big deal is with his weight?

Thanks for posting that video, I watched the whole thing. I don't remember seeing him play a safety once in 11 racks, pretty impressive.

One thing that surprised me was that they didn't shake hands after the match, I guess that isn't part of their tradition.

Rob,
I'm sure you know about Wu in the finals of the WPA World 9ball last year. Stuck 16-12 racing to 17, Wu put a five pack on Kuo. FIVE RACKS AND OUT to win the world championship, with a packed room full of people, tv cameras and electric atmosphere. This was accomplished on tables with very small pockets. Wu has already shown he can get it done on small pocketed tables as well as 4.5 to 5 inch pockets.

Wu is the real deal and imo his game looks more polished now than it did last year. His break at least in these 8 racks was alot more consistent.

Wow!!! I was expecting my comment to blow over some of these guys heads but not you Dave, come on. Obviously I am joking. Wu is going to be the best in the world within 3 years. You disappointed me Dave. "judging by the score(11-0) I like Li over Wu on tight tables" Come on guys I don't want to have to slow down for you guys. This is like a comedian that has to explain the punchline.

Has anyone noticed how similar his name is to a common english phrase related to making money? Coincidence??? Hehe...

Yokita

Oh my God ! ! you are beautiful ! ! ;) Are you married ? Do you shoot pool ?Are you old enough to be married ? lol
What were we talking about ? :p Oh yes, thanks for posting the video ! !

Excellent post, thanks a lot!!!

I had a friend who went to Tawian last year.Generally speaking, the pockets at most pool rooms over there are very,VERY tight, much tighter that the norm in North America. The pockets on the video looked normal to me, not super tight, however, not buckets either.

You have to remember that the pros generally play on tables with brand new cloth and sometimes rails. When the cloth is new the balls will slide off the rails and you will get away with some off hits and still make the pot.Once that table gets worked in and the rails/cloth absorb some moisture, I'm sure that those pockets will tighten up some.Either way 8 racks in a row, coupled with a super break shot, demonstrate that Wu will be dominating in 9 ball for years to come.

Some rep is coming your way and I'd really appreciate if you kept the vids a coming.

By the way Dave, I have the urge to start playing again. What do you want to do? What spot do you want so I can get in stroke? We can play cheap.

im going to PM you.

Thanks for posting. It was really great to hear some commentary by someone else other than the lame remarks by Mitch; even though I coudn't understand it.

The pockets are 4.5 inches...not big by any measure

It's easy to see in some of the shots, where the ball is rolling squarely into the middle of the pocket opening, that the pockets are just two balls wide...as indicated by Yokita (who said 2.0, which I believe would refer to exactly two balls wide...and a common width for tight pocket tables). While it's true that some people will shim or cut the angle of their pockets to create a 4" pocket, I don't think anyone would argue that 4.5" pockets are buckets. Wu has amazing pocketing skills, and represents the intelligent way to play, in aiming for the center of the pocket on almost every shot.

What amazed me, in particular, was his amazing speed control. In nearly 100 shots, he got out of line badly, on less than 5 shots...and more often rolled to perfect position, to take advantage of natural roll position for his next shot. One thing I recommend to pay close attention to, as an instructor, is how close his tip is to the CB, and his dedicated pre-shot routine...which involves a serious pause at the CB, before exection.

His break, although not seeming as powerful as we have heard before, was extraordinarily well-controlled. I believe, in eleven racks, he hit a rail with the CB, on the break, only three times, and one of those got bumped by an OB, after it had stopped near the middle of the table. A well mannered, and highly skilled champion player, Wu promises to show the world superior play for decades to come. Thanks, Yokita, for making these videos available for all of us to view!

> I'm with Scott,4.5 pockets are not THAT big. Sure, the pockets at the WPC this past year were 4.25 or smaller, but the Taiwanese government pays/sponsors him to play on tables with even tighter pockets than that if my info is correct. So,when he sees a table with anything bigger, his gear goes up because he can do things he normally wouldn't even try on a super-tight table. Since American players like to make balls on a recreational basis,I doubt we will ever see the majority of normal pool room tables that tight. Think about how often you've seen regular American room players complain about a standard cut Diamond, which is still 4 9/16 I think. Think about how far up the overall American level of play, not pro level, would go if we all played on Diamonds or tournament-spec Gold Crowns. Tommy D.

As I know, they always shake hands after the critic's comments.

Wu can slim so much and quickly means his strength of will is extraordinary, and I think it's one of reasons he could win world 8-ball and 9-ball at 16 years old.

Wu and Jasmin Ouchan both show their exceptional determination. Their futures are bright.
