The pockets are 4.5 inches...not big by any measure
It's easy to see in some of the shots, where the ball is rolling squarely into the middle of the pocket opening, that the pockets are just two balls wide...as indicated by Yokita (who said 2.0, which I believe would refer to exactly two balls wide...and a common width for tight pocket tables). While it's true that some people will shim or cut the angle of their pockets to create a 4" pocket, I don't think anyone would argue that 4.5" pockets are buckets. Wu has amazing pocketing skills, and represents the intelligent way to play, in aiming for the center of the pocket on almost every shot.
What amazed me, in particular, was his amazing speed control. In nearly 100 shots, he got out of line badly, on less than 5 shots...and more often rolled to perfect position, to take advantage of natural roll position for his next shot. One thing I recommend to pay close attention to, as an instructor, is how close his tip is to the CB, and his dedicated pre-shot routine...which involves a serious pause at the CB, before exection.
His break, although not seeming as powerful as we have heard before, was extraordinarily well-controlled. I believe, in eleven racks, he hit a rail with the CB, on the break, only three times, and one of those got bumped by an OB, after it had stopped near the middle of the table. A well mannered, and highly skilled champion player, Wu promises to show the world superior play for decades to come. Thanks, Yokita, for making these videos available for all of us to view!
