Rusty Melton, capefairpool, is a talented member of our AZ community. His work has him fast being recognised as one of the best case artists around. His Sheridan tooling on thick, rich, saddle leather makes his cases come alive. I wanted to take this opportunity to display a few of the cases he has done for me, and invite you all to comment or contact Rusty and own one of his cases.

The detail work looks increditable. Thats gotta take a very steady hand to do that kind of work. Very stunning. Congrats to you & best wishes to Rusty on the great looking cases.

what do they run 2x4???

I have one fully tooled without pockets comming this week. Price will be $800. I'll post pics and price in the W/FS section soon.

Thanks guys for the postive comments. Dave something with that amount of tooling is around 750 give or take a little depending the options like shoulder straps and pad, and pockets. Mycustomcues they are fairly heavy due to the heavy weight leather and tube design, I think the 2x4 with pockets pictured above weighed around 7 pounds. Thanks again everyone, Rusty

HEH,

Thanks for the pictures. I sent Rusty a PM and phone number, and will look into having a case made. I know Deano also really likes them.

Jeepers, I`m such a sucker for great tooling!

Take care,

Will

Looks like some of the work a girl here did with custom fishing rods cases (shape and tooling). Always wanted her to do a case for me, but things happen and now she has a B&B and spends her time with her grandkids and stopped doing leather work.

I contacted Rusty today, and ordered a 2/4 case, Rusty was a pleasure to deal with during our conversation on my order. I am totally impressed with and I totally believe that the work Rusty is doing is equal to if not the best around today. I always wanted to own a case made by Chas Clements, and when I could have I was a dollar short and day late. In my opinion Rusty is making cases that are as close as possible to the cases Chas made. His cases are hand stitched, and the leather is hand tooled / cut unlike similar cases being produced today with machined presses and sewing machines. I for one am not going to allow this opportunity to pass me by again. In fact I suspect I will be ordering 1 or 2 cases a year for the foreseeable future.

Tommy thanks for bring this gentleman's work to my attention, and thanks Rusty, I can't wait to receive my new case.

Take care

Thanks Si, Jack, Guy, and Craig. I was wondering if you still had that case Guy, I'm glad you to see you do. Craig it was a pleasure to talk to you and I look forward to building something nice for you. Thanks again to everyone for the compliments.

bump for some really cool 1x2s.......my case should be here tommorow.... mickey

Wow! Those are cool, remind me of the old west. I have seen Will's case that Rusty made and you have to hold one of the cases to really appreciate the density of the leather and the incedible quality of the build. You get the feeling that these cases could withstand just about anything. Thanks for sharing Tommy.
