I heard Bonus Ball was to be renamed American Three Pocket leaving the basic version as Bonus Ball. Anyone have any more information about this? I can't seem to find any information about this since the Friends of Bonus Ball website and FaceBook page went away.

Also, which name would you prefer? Personally I'd like them to stick with Bonus Ball, but I guess American Three Pocket does sound a bit more professional.

I like Three Pocket way better, It sounds like a pool game. Bonus ball sounds like a Milton Bradley game.

Yeah - it does give it better ambiance.
 
American Three Pocket or just Three pocket sounds WAY better to me too. When I first heard the name Bonus Ball, my first reaction was that it sounded like the name of a new pool related game to be added to the Price is Right! with Drew Carey. Looking forward to seeing what will happen with Bonus Ball.
 
Shouldn't it be Canadian Three Pocket? For that matter, why does it have to specify a location - why not just Three Pocket? Is there a European Three Pocket already that we have to distinguish from this one?
 
Yeah, Three Pocket does sound a lot better. I really hope they go with that. It doesn't need to specify a location. Just the name Bonus Ball sounds like an amateur game.
 
American 3 pocket players should wear polo shirts, not dumb jerseys. Just sayin...
 
If true, I'd be surprised if the name change wasn't prompted by the UK lottery game named Bonus Ball.

I think of "bonus ball" like you were just taking a lady friend out for a few drinks to be supportive and help her through a tough spot and, well, you know... Bonus Ball

Wait, this is serious and not someone teasing bonus ball and "american rotation" in a single post?

American anything doesn't make sense because half (or more) of the players are from other countries.
No reason to limit the game to being an american thing, especially if you hope to reach an international
audience and maybe even expand to other countries down the road.

On the other hand they already have teams representing random US cities,
when none of the players has ever set foot in those cities. So... why not??

Three pocket won't work because the game supposedly is played with all the pockets at the amateur
level, and the restricted pockets is only for the pro version.

Personally I think the game should have one set of rules for all skill levels
because the strategy is entirely different in the pro version, it changes the flavor of the game completely. Almost like two different games.
Let amateurs play the same game as the pros. Bonus ball with six pockets is like 'bar rules' bonus ball.

Actually, Jesse Engel is from Minnesota and plays on the Minnesota team. Shawn Putnam plays for Pittsburgh and is from Pennsylvania. Earl plays for New York and I believe plays/played in the Amsterdam (NY) leagues with Barretta and crew. Just a few...
 
As a patriotic US citizen, I like American Three Pocket. But Three Pocket is OK too... Either one is better than Bonus Ball.

Three pocket would work perfect. There are different rules for pool games and they keep the same name, 9 ball, 8 ball. Yes, rules should be the same for all levels of he game as far as the number of pockets go.

The obvious question is... where did you hear this? It doesn't really make sense, which usually means its not true.

I heard about it on the Friends of Bonus Ball Facebook page before it was closed. They made a status update saying the name was going to be changed. Then after a few minutes, they deleted it. I posted a comment on another of their posts and they said that the name was in fact going to change. Wish I had more information.

I searched FB for "friends of bonus ball" and only came up with closed lottery groups for a lottery game of the same name. Do you have a link to this FB page?

The playbonusball.com domain has redirected to wpbltv.com for soem time now.
 
Looks like the FB page is gone, but was there. Found this on Google. I wonder if that page was maintained by the Barry VP guy they fired a few months back.
