Just got this announcement from the BCA. It says the two winners also get a paid trip to the 2025 Heyball Masters.

For a $100 entry fee, you are getting real good money odds.

The Big Dawgs 9-Ball event starts the 11th. The 9th and 10th are 1 pocket, so there may be a decent turnout for this event.

Like you said Bob, the money odds are good. $100 entry, go 0-2, you'll walk away with $250.

Are there any Chinese pool tables in pool halls or clubs in the US?
I would guess fewer than 20. I think there used to be one at Griff's but they don't list one now. Ed Liddawi may have one at his room. There is a local small club that just got one and they claim to be the only available C8B table in the area.

I think there are far fewer such tables than either snooker or carom in the US and both of those are often hard to find.

likely more in migrant clubs. in my country noones plays russian pyramid, never has. thought i. when walking to grab job lunch not so long ago, i saw a new place and walked in. first thing i saw was a pyramid table, plus an am. pool table. no signs about this other than an azerbajdzjan food and entertainment. i can imagine chinamen in US having the same with private clubs and public establishments

Wait why would you get $250 for going 0-2?

There are a few in the northeast and one here in Texas that I have played on.

To my knowledge, Chinese 8 ball is played on 9' tables. it might be easier & cheaper to find a 10' snooker table and just play on that.

Some 10-foot snooker tables in the US have very, very small pockets. I've seen a table where you could not play the black off its spot at speed. Of course the table was not used for snooker.

Yeah and even when the pockets are the normal size. Using pool balls is so damn tough.

3 biggest differences any pool player would notice is,

Super fast table. like carom table fast.
have to slow roll so many balls in or they'll rattle out.
Can't shoot a ball down the rail. probably less likely than snooker or english 8 ball

Win 2 matches and you get $1250. Am I doing the math right?
I think that 8 groups of 8 send two forward and each player gets at least $1250. That requires three wins, I think, unless you lose your first match and then you need four straight wins.

I believe the BEF Junior Nationals will be in Quincy simultaneously. It's a big week for cue sports in that small town!

Refreshing the why for the Heyball with its rule set, for me, creates a hmmm...,
7 games within 100 minutes? tough table for sure - creating a non-playing fan base?
With a few billion people on this planet migrating to the $100 entry point...?
...having only 64 guys and gals allowed in feels more like a casting call fee for a Noah's Ark stage performance,
being a good shooting Chinese national is a plus, with their hundred or so illegal border crossing daily, should work out.
The no-call fluke shot good as gold, which I'm fine with, why the numbered balls?
I'd like to see more good quality no numbered solid and striped ball sets available; this outfit looks to have the deep pockets for it.
