And They Say Pool Is Crooked

Everything under the sun is crooked in one way or another. Whether sports, school, work, marriage, you name it. It's part of human nature. That's certainly not the reason pool is dwindling.

Just "8" players on the Sox were in on the fix. Hence, the movie and book, "Eight Men Out". but the way the owner Charles Comiskey treated the players, and he was known as the biggest tight wad in baseball, and went back on his word with many players, I might have put the fix in for free ;)

Johnny, I think most of us are big boys, and realize that there are people who will cheat, steal, or do whatever it takes to get the almighty dollar !..The fact we tend to overlook is, they do NOT, or never will, outnumber the people who play these games to win, fairly and honestly.

The world can be a bad place, but why do we constantly dwell on the antics of the bad guys, instead of the ones who play to win, the right way ?..Don't those people deserve to be the ones we should be talking about ?..Let the creeps and thieves brag among themselves, and lets promote the good guys !..If you want to focus on bad news, just watch TV ! :rolleyes:

Most of the sports we are talking about have a ref or 6. IMO in most cheating cases the refs are not calling it. I believe anything funny with the rack= loss of a game or more. Dumping is hard to prove, but if suspected, give a warning and/or no more invites for that promoters tournaments. We see it all the time in almost all sports. The ref doesn't call certain fouls for whatever reason, so it becomes OK over the years...like touching a foot away from 2nd base bag on the double play. Johnnyt

Very true Johhnyt! Why do they only punish the best one?
 
it's sad when you're slapped-in-the-face at 40 with reality.
after getting to know all of the players.
after spending money on said.
after respecting their game.
to discover - it only means something to them.

i was raised better.
.
 
Depends on what IS means,,Glad we have honest Politicians with all this goings on. Heck, we'er represented by the best money can buy
