As of May 21st we will not be accepting any more direct custom orders until further notice.

The only way to get a custom case from us will be to order through IndyQShop or CueSight and a few other dealers who know how to take orders for us.

Anyone who has emailed me prior to May 21st may continue with their custom order.

We are just swamped with orders and I want to restructure our shop to do more cases that we design rather than always doing custom orders.

When we return to taking custom orders then we follow a strict regimen with a limit of 104 custom cases per year. When that list of 104 cases is full then we will take no more orders. Of those 104 custom case orders 24 of them will be cases at 1000+ and the other 80 will be $500-$1000. When that list is full then we will start the list for the following year.

We will spend the next several months working super hard to clear our entire backlog of orders.

You will see cases for sale here as we will be making a lot of cases for inventory. IndyQ and Cuesight will be adding many new JB Cases to their inventory.

I thank all of you for your patronage and for helping us to get to this point. Our case shop is fairly unique in the industry as far as I know. I plan to leverage the capabilities we have to make a lot of the ideas I have into reality and intensify the support for Sterling Gaming and Indy Q Shop, two of the best in the business in my book.

Best,

John Barton

I tried to order a case a month or 2 ago, I got the return email but no further contact.
Am I on the list to get a case?

Yes, absolutely. This is part of the reason I have stopped taking new orders.

Please send a reminder email so I know who you are and we can go ahead and get all the specs done. jb@jbideas.com

My case sent you over the edge, huh John? LOL

Karen sent me pics the other day. All I can say is WOW! You are one bad mother of innovation! Talk about knocking it out of the park.... You knocked the cover off the ball on this one.

Good to see that you are staying busy John. I will contact you when you start taking orders. I may have to talk to Eric from Sterling to save some time, keep rolling out the great looking cases!

at least you're telling people up front and not just taking too many orders and burrying your self and then not delivering - in other words using the az forums formula. props to you john. better to be too busy than have time to relax, shows you're doing something right:thumbup:

That would really be best. If you can study my website and put together your order with them then that's best. Essentially I am paying the dealers to work with the customers at this point so that I can really focus more on clearing the backlog.

Yeah. Well we have been delivering but way too slowly. My shop is different than most other people's in that we have ten people and with all the details we offer, essentially unlimited choices, we are often making mistakes that require a rebuild and that causes delays.

So I want to restructure the whole thing from top to bottom and work out every detail so that when we take an order then it has a definite and pure process that allows us to get all the details right and move it through design and construction on time.

Frankly I do think it's harder on the one man shops as they have to do it all by themselves, the marketing to get orders, the conversation to define it, then design and build. And using AZB can be a blessing or a curse because the more you market and present your work the more work you get, at least that's what happens with us.

Almost every case I put up in the Gallery and in the WFS section spawns another couple inquiries for custom cases. Which is great and will be greater still when we can respond to those inquiries with definite and guaranteed timelines for delivery. I can only speculate how difficult it must be for some of the cue makers who probably get even more inquiries and they have to do everything by themselves.

Anyway, thanks for the props. Maybe when this is all done I can plan a good road trip and you and your buds can rag on me in person in the pool room :-) I do much better in the barking sessions when it's in person. I am sure we'd have a good time playing if I could hang with you all for a couple days.

I just got my case in the nick of time....:)

I would not consider my case a overly "flashy" design....It is a basic two tone black case with no tooling (other than a name on the strap) It was not my intention of picking a design that would "attract" attention....but during BCA....I had about once a day someone tell me they like my case and ask me where I got my case....I heard comments like.....

"I have never seen a case with no snaps or latch for the lid....that is cool"

"That is a very clean designed case there....what kind of leather is that"

"I have never seen a (phone) pocket like that"

The only thing my case was missing was a token dispenser....

John,
Where exactly am I on your list of custom cases?
I should be #1, but I'm betting I'm not ON the list.
I've been in work since December of 2009. We just past through our anniversary.
You were to deliver a final drawing to me on July 19th 2010 or you would take $100 off each week you're late. So by my count you're into my custom case for $5300.
What is sad is I started this case in memory of my mother after she passed.
While waiting for you to get moving I've lost my brother too.
Maybe that's the plan, wait until there is nothing left for me to remember.
This is where you send me another hollow promise like the last year and a half.
So sad, so much tallent and yet you have left me twisting in the breeze.

And so...this was the way you thought best to handle it? You know, he has all kinds of contact info listed in his Profile, perhaps you should've tried those options first.

You'll capture infinitely more flies with honey than with vinegar....just sayin'.

John has not been on the Forum in a while, If you got questions e-mail Karen Barton, John's wife who is dealing with most of the correspondence for JB Cases now. She replies in a day or two to most e-mails, and remember CHINA is about 12-14 hours later in the day than most paces the U.S.A.

Actually, from the West Coast of the US, it is +15 hours to Xiamen...+18 hours from the East Coast. Right now, it is currently 5:25 am Monday morning in Xiamen.

I'm curious, have you even contacted John lately via email or skype? Since July 2010 it's been over a year, contacted him in between? Have you checked with him on your order status?

I've never had problem with John or Karen's communication and I've bought several cases from him already.

I don't want to be presumptuous here about your intentions for this post so I'll just extend my offer to help you convey your message IF you are still keen on the case.

I think you zigged when you should have zagged. It's a 12-hour difference for the East Coast, not 18 hours.
