Another air travel/travel case question - please help

Hi - I know much has been said about the perils of flying with your cues/case, having one set of cues for the road that you don't mind losing, not checking any baggage that you cant live without etc., but please bear with me.

I only have one set of cues, and my question is this - If i were to take my current Cuetec hard case - and say, buy this Longoni outer layer - would this be "reasonably" sufficient to protect the cues from the check-in dangers?

I know to each their own, definition of "reasonably" is subjective etc. - but any opinions/suggestions are appreciated.

Will be flying Southwest and/or Delta. And yes, this will be after ruling out driving to said places.

Yes.....I've travelled dozen of times over the years using basically the same setup. If you ship your cues, guess what they are using a plane. I just make sure that I'm at the luggage carousal before it comes out.

When we went to Vegas in 2008, we put all of our cue cases in a hard shell golf case.... The cases designed to put your golf club bag in when you travel by air. It worked well. And can be locked with a TSA lock.

If you're traveling by yourself, that's probably not a great way to do it because of the extra cost. But I'm sure you can find some type of hard shell case that you can lock.

Only had one issue. We didn't see it on the carousel, so had to search for where they put it. It ended up in the oversize bagage department.

Yes.

I have the same soft case and put a hard case inside. Put a TSA lock and an address tag on it and you should be fine. I’ve travel many times with the same set up without a problem.

I can’t send you a link from my phone but when I travel I use a duffel bag that has wheels and a handle that extends
so that I can roll it around the airport
it’s big enough to put my Cues case in
and
pack all my clothes and sundries
therefore I have only one bag that’s checked and it has everything in it

I carry extra clothes in my carry on. Just a back up plan.

If you can send a link later, that'd be great!

What many do, including one poster above and myself, is get a bag large enough to put the whole case in (maybe diagonally) and then pack clothes and stuff around it. I have a roller-duffel. It works fine. If I'm paranoid about the hotel staff, I can put the case back inside the bag and zip it up when I'm out of the room.

Some airlines will charge you extra for a separate cue bag.

I think I might go that Longoni bag route, and have a carry-on item for clothes etc. Given that most of the trips I am planning right now are not more than 5 days.

Your set up looks OK to me. I don't see your cues getting damaged from your set up. As for theft- no one can predict when that dishonest employee will target your stuff. Like everything else in life, there are bad apples everywhere. That being said, I just would not put any cue worth more than a few hundred dollars in the hands of commercial airlines. I have number of cheap cue butts with decent playing shafts for that reason and for use in bars or smokey pool rooms.

However, look at all these pros who travel worldwide constantly with their cues- it can't be all bad.

Guess will have to take a chance eventually. Definitely can't drive all over the country.
