Anyone have any clues on this one? There are no markings except the butt cap which is marked 13-213. Supposedly its over 30 years old. Shaft has a fairly small piloted brass insert. Its a 4 point with veneers, don't have any good pics. Thanks.
Post more pix, of points etc. Joint looks like 5/16 x 18 or similar, which could mean an import.
Your right the term "crap" probably isn't the word I was looking for. I guess I was aiming for "less valuable". It could be the greatest playing cue in the world for all I know. I do not have the cue in hand so I don't have good pics of points. I just can't figure why a mass produced import would have this type of numbering on it. It seems like a tracking number for a lower quantity produced cue. Once again thanks for all your input
Meucci uses 5/16x18......as well as Mali, Huebler, Viking, and others. You'll find it even on very old JOSS. It does not necessarily mean import, though a lot of imports have used that joint.
I found it again, more pics here:

Yes, it is a 5/16x18 joint.
Oh yes, I agree it could be, and most likely is, a low end import.
It does not resemble any of the more mainstream brands I mentioned.
It does however possibly resemble some of the other less prominent US makers. For example, the joint style and rings do resemble some National cues I have seen. Now that would be a nice find, so I would want to make sure. I mean....that's Helmstetter and Meucci et al work.
But that's a stretch. I do agree, it is most likely a lower end Asian import.
If it was a Helmstetter, it would still be an import since those cues were made by the Adams/Miki company
Competition was (is?) a brand, not a manufacturer. I used them as an example. Many brands have shared the same origins like Cobra, Mizerak, Victory, Competition, Sierra, and a bunch of others.
How they play is a bit hit and miss and many people have been surprised by some of them.
As an example of what I mean check this out:

That is a Sierra, they are currently for sale for MSRP-$425.00, sale price-$340.00, extra shafts are $140.00
And here is mine, check the one on the left branded as a Cobra:

I posted about this in the gallery with more picture evidence of other brands such as Viscotti, Quest, and Lucasi. Look at what people pay for a Lucasi versus a Quest.

I had that identical stick, (second from the right) that I picked up from a pawn shop back in the 80's for $23....
That was the best hitting stick I owned until I bought my first Meucci in '92.
I won alooooooot of money with that old 'Miz.....Man I miss that stick....
Thanks Doc. Brings back a lot of fine memories!!!
