Hi all:

I've had this cue for a number of years. Not sure if its' an old Brunswick or ?

Any ideas; I'd like to sell it and would prefer to be able to let buyer know what it might be; also any idea as to value.

Thanks for your help.

Edited.... I just notices the image scrolled, and saw the grain of the wood on the triangle splice. It looked like a sticker on he lower half but that was probably because of how the picture was taken with the camera on. Seeing that wood grain I retract my sticker assessment.

inlays?

I thought the butterflys and points were inlays. Don't feel like decals. I figured it was pretty old based on the pin. But, that's why I am asking.

Thanks for your input Hang 9.

PS, when I got it there was no bumper, I salvaged it from another cue.

Looks like a simple conversion...no guess to who made it. Definitely butterfly splices not decals

Katz or Brunswick. They have slightly different pins. There has been a few threads on these in the past. When I get home I will add the links.

Correct-amundo...

3/8 - 12 would indicate Katz - which would be my guess.
Plus, the wrap was almost certainly added much later.

If a Katz, it could be as recent as late 50s - early 60s.

I did not see the grain on the upper splice, did not notice image scrolled. The lower part of the splice looked like a sticker but that may be due to the picture artifacting, it looked uneven.

You are the man Dale.
I will say that this cue looks sharp from the pictures.

Thanks all

You guys are the best

I'll count the threads when I get home.

Much appreciated.

Anyone want to take a stab at value or recommend a decent asking price?

Thanks again

Dave

I am leaning towards Katz.

But with a Brunswick KU bumper.

Gotta love the old butterflies!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good catch chop.

Since he asked for value, do you want to tell him the bumper is worth more than the cue is?

OK... a bit of hyperbole

bumper for sale

Hi ChopDoc

No, I got home late last night and didn't count it. I'll do so tonight.

Think I'll keep the cue and sell the bumper.

Thanks again Doc

Sorry fellas, short mental lapse on my part...

The pin is 5/16 NOT 3/8 as I wrote.

Again 5/16 - 12 would indicate Katz, if it is 5/16 - 14 Brunswick would be likely.

I have seen several of these "double" Butterflies by Katz, never one from Brunswick, though
that is far from conclusive.

Regarding the bumper, it is the one Balabushka used for his cues. I have seen people
ask $50 for a NOS(new old stock) one.

pin size

Hi again.

The pin is a little over 5/8th inch.

I count 7 threads in a 1/2 inch. So I guess its a 14.

Would that mean a Brunswick, or bad eyesight?

Thanks
Dave

I didn't even catch that you said 3/8 because I could see it was 5/16. LOL!

Probably, sort of... thread gauge would be handy because 12 and 14 are quite close over
such a short distance.

I use the shaft of one of my trusty old Hoppes, if the pin goes it is declared to be a Brunswick.
