Another milestone!

Well it seems I have reached another milestone in my game. For most of you players in here this will seem like a small accomplishment, but I am pretty excited about it.

For one I haven't been able to practice a lot lately. It is my own fault seeing as how I have a new love intrest in my life and I have been spending all my free time with her. LOL

Anyway I decided to get back to practicing this week and two days in a row I have sort of amazed myself. I don't know if I am just hungrier than ever to get to the table, or I am just focusing more or what?

Yesterday when I got done practicing all my drills I threw all the balls up on the table. No particular order, no particular pattern, etc. I took ball in hand for the first shot and just wanted to pocket all the balls in any order without missing a shot. I have done this before and wasn't really a big deal that I did it today. Then I threw them up on the table again and I will be danged if I didn't do it twice in a row. I finally missed on my 35th shot. (Not a huge deal for some of you all, but I was stoked!)

Today I got done practicing my drills and I decided to play some 10 ball taking ball in hand on the first shot. I ran back to back racks of 10 ball today! (Again not a huge deal for some of you all.)

I am just so happy that I seem to be on target the past couple days, it makes me itch to get up early and practice again tomorrow!

Anyway, enough patting myself on the back. I just had to share it with all of you peeps!

Well I guess I am going to skip practice this morning. I just remembered that I play tonight. I don't practice on game nights! LOL:rolleyes:

It doesn't really matter if it is a big deal to anyone else. I'm glad you're gaining consistancy. Hopefully, the plateaus will become shorter and the improvements will be closer together.

Thanks! My milestones might be closer together if I actually spent more time practicing and playing! LOL

Well hopefully once I get all finished up with schools in a few years I will be able to spend more time with my hobby! LOL

Hey man, if you can run racks of Ten ball with BIH, you are a "B" player at least. What I like to call Shortstop speed. You can play a little now, and make it hard on a lot of guys (and gals). It will take a pretty strong player to get the best of you. Nice work!

Sounds pretty good to me. Hopefully I'll manage something similar when I get to play again. It's now been over 3 weeks since I played.:(

If you want to track your offensive 10-ball progress with ball in hand to start, you can try Joe Tucker's 10-Ball drill:

Rack and break the balls. If you scratch on the break, there is no point penalty, except that you must spot any balls that you made on the break. Take ball in hand and try to run out.

If you make the 10-ball early, leave it down and keep shooting. Your inning ends when you miss, scratch or pocket all the balls. Count up the number of balls you made on that rack and that's your score for the rack. (If you fouled on your last shot, don't count any balls made on that shot.)

Play 10 racks. Maximum score is 100 over 10 racks, and the idea is to keep a running average of multiple 10-rack sessions. Here's his rating breakdown:

Pro ............... 70 and above
Short Stop .... 60-69
A ................... 50-59
B ................... 40-49
C ................... 30-39
D ................... 20-29
Beginner........ 20 and under

The drill has been humbling me over the past few months, but I like having an average that I can try to improve upon.

Glad you brought this up..........I actually think I have this drill from Joe Tucker in one of his books. I have several tools from him that I just haven't made myself go through and work with. I really ought to as racking secrets was very helpful to me. I will look through the drills he has. Sounds like something I could use anyway!

Thanks!

Well I don't feel that I am a B player yet, but I definately give a lot of people a hard time if I am playing with my head on straight! LOL I have a tendency to make things harder on my self when I am playing.

I am definately better now that I was a year ago, and definately better now than I was the year before that. So as long as I am making progress I can't ask for anything more.

Thanks everyone for all their kind words, some of you I can't give anymore rep to unless I spread it around. So I will hit you guys back up when I can for some more good rep.

Thanks everyone!

On a sad note I lost $40 bucks last night! LOL I was playing good lost two races to 5 for $20 bucks each. I had him hill-hill both times, but for some reason I couldn't get the 5 win in! I came from behind both times too! LOL

De nada, amigo. Yeah, that drill is from Racking Secrets. Everyone should buy that book or DVD.

I really need to get more organized with my practice though and try to really work on my weaknesses, do drills, etc. Maybe I'll start tomorrow. :D
