Hi all, and thanks again Remy for posting pic's. Jeff sent me some this afternoon, but even I hadn't seen some of these! Jeff shipped the cue today (10/30), so I'll probably have it Saturday. I'm obviously very happy with the way it turned out. This is my 2nd SS 5/16-14 Olney & I'm sure it'll play as good as the 1st. Difference is, Jeff & I worked to design this one for me. Working with him was a fine experience. He was unerringly personable & accomodating, and always prompt to communicate. One of the greatest things to me is that when Jeff & I talked this afternoon he seemed very proud of the result. I told him all along that I wanted it right more than I wanted it fast. If it went out of the shop with his unconditional blessing there was no doubt I'd be satisfied.

Chris, so far the butt design is one of a kind, Chris designed it. i think you will really like once its in your hands. i normally use the blue venneers in the middle, but the light blue worked well next to the ebony on this cue. Jeff Olney

I appreciate you jumping in to comment, Jeff. It is kind of a different order of veneer colors, but I like how it came out. I think the maple in the 3rd position frames the darker interior colors nicely, and picks up a really luminous quality from the birdseye nearby. Jeff slightly shortened the butt portion of this cue to keep the ivory pattern from spreading out too much in the length, which equated to a little longer wrap area. I'm really happy with the relative inlay sizes (he custom cut the ivory diamonds for me to make them smaller for my liking), spacing, and over all pattern integrity. I'm particularly fond of having silver rings directly against both sides of the Hoppe ring. I think the ivory really makes the silver pop more without any intervening color.
Jeff did a superlative job & I feel like it turned out with quite a classic & classy look. The only thing left is to see it personally and enjoy the feel & playability - and I say enjoy, not check out, because I trust that the playability & consistency of Jeff's cues is a given. His fit is tight, precise, and dead straight, and his finish has extraordinary depth & clarity.
When you're so fortunate as to work directly with a top knotch maker on a cue that'll have a personal quality to, for, and of you - this is the kind of experience & result that you want - and deserve.

Rec'd the cue Sat afternoon. It's even better in person. Jeff told me he thought everything on this cue had come out perfect - I see why. It hits, feels, responds, balances beautifully. Amazing consistency cue to cue. If anyone has a question about fit & line up... I used a piece of thread & " ran a line" from the top of the point, thru the inlay in the point, thru the ivory dashes in the c/d trim rings, and thru the inlays in the butt. Repeated for each of the 4 points. Dead solid centered every time - top to bottom.
I asked for the butt to weigh 15.3 oz. He said it was 15.3. I weighed it with my Pelouze postal scale - 15.3 oz.
Super attention to detail in playing characteristics & aesthetics.
Doesn't get better.
