Hey AZ friends;
One of my best friends and pool buddies had to be admitted into a permanent care facility. He is dealing with a number of complicated health issues but man has he enjoyed a long and amazing life. You may have seen me post about him here over what a dynamic and interesting man he is - His name is New York Larry Gendler, he is 96 yo and fast approaching 97. Please keep a prayer and positive thoughts for him to maybe have some more enjoyable days. He played pretty competitively up until he was about 92.
His son got in touch with me and I am looking to liquidate what pool related items he had left. Worth noting is that NY Larry was an accomplished player, in fact he was inducted into the New England HOF. He def knew quality equipment. I'm not real familiar with his particular gear and no longer an opportunity to discuss it with him so I'm turning to you guys for your opinions on all of this. Once l can establish values l will post these on the FS forum - might even be good to sell all as a package deal to make things easier. In person would be great, all is in CT but l will ship if needed.
Please let me know your opinions on all of this equipment as well as what they should sell for a quick sale either individually or all together.
I certainly do appreciate the help.
There is a sneaky pete butt that has a stamped M on the forearm (see pics), I have no idea what that cue is but it looks to have som age related patina. Also there is a shaft that screws on fits fine looks like it might be ash or hickory??? but is not original to that butt. There is also an extension and also what appears to be an unmarked dedicated jumper.
The case is in very nice cond both inside and out, it is a Whitten style 2x4 case - it is NOT an actual Whitten.
There is an Ariel Carmelli shop cue in good used cond with some dings and rubs here and there with two full shafts and this cue hits absolutely brilliant. All is straight and tbh I wouldn't mind keeping that one for myself.
There is also a break cue which is a Mezz Power Break Deep Inpact 2. I never tried one of these before; holy crap does it break amazing and it jumps with ease too. It breaks down to three piece and there are 3 rings that are weight disks which come off so you can adjust the weight. Again, I was completely unfamiliar with these till now. They are made shorter than standard 58" by maybe 3 or 4 inches and apparently that is to achieve higher speeds. That cue impressed all the boys at the pool hall yesterday. Please share what you know about these pieces and what would be a fair price that would help to make them go to a new owner sooner rather than later.
Thx for helping to put put me on the right track.
Very appreciated..
