Another "what if" rule question

Welcome again, and here we have another scenario.

The game is 9 ball, and I am down to the last 3 balls. The 8 and 9 are tied up along the bottom rail. I can get position on the 8, but I'll need to bring the cueball down very close to the bottom rail.

The 7 is at the other end of the table. I pocket the 7, and the cueball is coming towards the 8 and 9, but I see that the speed is too slow and might fall short of being able have a shot on the 8.

I begin to frantically wipe the cloth with my hand in front of the cueball as it travels down the table, hoping to allow it to roll an extra inch or so.

Luckily the cueball traveled just far enough to pocket the 8, and I win the game easily.

What do you say?

Unsportsmanlike conduct. You lose the rack or possibly the whole match.

"6.16 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The normal penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct is the same as for a serious foul, but the referee may impose a penalty depending on his judgment of the conduct. Among other penalties possible are a warning; a standard-foul penalty, which will count as part of a three-foul sequence if applicable; a serious-foul penalty; loss of a rack, set or match; ejection from the competition possibly with forfeiture of all prizes, trophies and standings points.
Unsportsmanlike conduct is any intentional behavior that brings disrepute to the sport or which disrupts or changes the game to the extent that it cannot be played fairly. It includes
(a) distracting the opponent;
(b) changing the position of the balls in play other than by a shot;
(c) playing a shot by intentionally miscuing;
(d) continuing to play after a foul has been called or play has been suspended;
(e) practicing during a match;
(f) marking the table;
(g) delay of the game; and
(h) using equipment inappropriately."

Welcome again,
What do you say?

It is not that goofy as many here think.It appears that u may be trying to make a point by asking a hypothetical question presented in a theatrical manner.Many years ago,one top ranked pro in the world and who is very well liked by many, tapped/slapped the slate repeatedly when the object ball was moving very slowly.I don`t want to mention his name here because I forgot all the details:cool:

Thank you for the advice, I'll tone it down a notch.

yea thanks my friend you took it FWIW as I meant it in a non bashing way.

just that i know your going to get bashed, and a flame war shall possibly occur.

I've been lucky enough to garner the respect on the board that I have that on occassion makes me sort of the "last word" on certain things on here, and this was kinda one of those things so I lay down the Ace for you, me and everyone else. Its situation control lol:wink:, something we must all do in life and of course on this board for ourselves and others to get along, prosper and grow.

I love theoretical things just need to address and put them up in better ways and better places........

like i said before you have a wonderful imagaination and i look forward to your future posts and looking forward to seeing how that imagination will benefit and help grow you as a player and your knowledge of the inner workings of the game we all love.

best wishes,
