Any Bad experience with any Cue maker?

There are many threads available on this forum about deals gone bad with cuemakers. Some have been pulled, but if you use the search function, you will learn a lot

Yup!!!!

You can't find a negative thread about almost anything here at AZ, and as you point out, I've learned a whole lot here.

Thanks

Kevin

people are not going to tell you if they had a bad experience with a cuemaker. Even if I understand their reason, why you should not warn other people?

People should be warned about the bad apples. It's sickening to me that we have members on here trying to protect cuemakers that screw people over instead of trying to protect honest people from getting screwed by those cuemakers.

There are MANY reputable cue makers on here and not on here that you can deal with. Do some research and ask people who have had tons of custom cues who to and not to deal with. Then you don't have issues most of the time. Buying a cue from the guy who gives you the cheapest quote is usually a bad idea. This is a business where for the most part, you get what you pay for

confused

I'm the cuemaker whom this poster is referring to here. He sent me payment for my services and when I opened the letter up -- guess what?

No Postal Money Order. And I will swear on any religious text of your choosing that I did not receive a Postal Money Order from this gentleman. If he actually sent payment, I would like to see visual proof that it was sent.

Dear sir,
do you have visual proof of payment for my services?

If so, please post the evidence. Enough is enough.

I haven't spent half my life perfecting the art and craft of flawless cuemaking to have someone like you accuse me of poor proprietary business practices.

Can you name one other customer I have ever had business with when contracting my services to them who have ever been dissatisfied with my cuemaking services?

Let's see that "payment" you supposedly sent me before besmirching my spotless reputation as it now stands with the multitude of satisfied AZ'ers I have dealt with in the past.

It's your type who are ruining it for the rest of us hardworking and consciencious cuesmakers who reside on AZ.

I apologize in advance to the AZ community for exploding like this in public, but I've had just about enough of this.

Thank you for your time and interest.

Oh, and Kevin, I appreciate the compliment you sent me concerning the Ginacue I made for you recently. Good day.

I am totally confused here. How is he, "Maker of fine lines of original Custom Cues
Including Herceks, Black Boars, Cognoscenti's, BHQ Custom Jump Cues, Schon Uniques, Blue Grass, Franklin Southwest's, Ginacues, and assundry other fine hitting and playing cues." Am I missing something?

On another note. Society is messed up, after 20 years of the automotive business I was truly pissed at customers. Customers used the "survey" that goes to the manufacture to black mail the dealer all the time. "if you don't do what I say I will give you a bad survey" People use these forums to do the same thing, then we sit here as judge and jury. Filthy. One person can get on here and ruin a person's reputation just by writing. Whatever happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty? It is hard to look at the customers point of view with an open mind anymore. People the customer isn't always right.

That was an unbelievable betrayal of their dealers by the manufacturers. Imagine that big bad ole factory getting sick of dealers screwing the manufacturer's customers, thereby leaving the consumer with a sour taste toward the manufacturers and their product and the factory devising a way to give power back to the consumer.

You know who came up with that evil concept don't you? That's right those bad bad Japanese. Of course they didn't have a need for the survey until they started doing business in America for some reason.

Shame on them.

The only bad experience I have had dealt with asking a maker to drop by his shop and go over some ideas in person since I thought it might be difficult to explain via email. The guy got pretty snide and rude with me about it in his email response. No worries, I just found a different cuemaker to work with. With the exception of this one guy, all of the cuemakers I have talked with on the phone and in person have been super-great guys. And yeah, I talked with this guy in person without him knowing who I was out at VF one year and he was just as big of a jerk to talk to in person as his emails made him out to be.

Wow... That's a pretty bold statement...

<-- has had a few bad transactions...

Just playing devil’s advocate here but I find threads like this hilarious. When are the cuemakers going to start a thread to warn other cuemakers about the pain in the a$$ customers they have dealt with or people they should warn other cuemakers not to make cues for. How about people who use sob stories or outright lie to jump the line only to flip a cue. How about the pros who expect free/lower cost cues. How about those who throw their cash around practically expecting instant line cuts. How about the ones who threaten to “ruin” a cuemaker via AZ.
Make sure you always look at the whole picture.

Seems like I heard sometime ago that cuemakers have a "private" forum on here that they can talk with each other on, including all they want to know about a vartiety of customers... the good, bad and ugly.

They have one at Jimbo's Army but I've never heard of a private cuemaker forum on AZ.
It's so exclusive that they voted Trent into their secret society.

I've honestly never had any bad experiences with a cuemaker. The two I deal with most of the time are Jim Ingram and Sean Huckleberry. Both offer excellent work, at a fair price with excellent customer service. Both have made full cues for me, shafts, repair work, you name it.

Other cuemakers that I've had very positive experiences with were Bob Owen, Mike Durbin, and Mark Patrick. They haven't done a lot of work for me, but I've visited with all of them extensively at their shops about their ideas on cues and life in general and they are all stand up guys that are excellent craftsmen.

NOPE!

I only deal with one cue maker and he has top notch work, in a good time, at a more than fair price. And I don't really care to own anything else at this time.

best,

Justin

What are you talking about here?

Ok, I realize that my post was slightly obscure, but I wanted to see if I could get a reaction from the OP. My impression is that the OP is simply playing off the recent trend of "bad experience" threads with cuemakers. I wanted to see if the OP had a "real" experience go bad with a cuemaker or simply posted an imaginary experience with a cuemaker, which is what I assumed. So I posted an imaginary cuemaker response to the OP based on the recent Trent cuemaker thread. I'm as real a cuemaker as the cuemaker that the OP had a bad experience with so I figured I might as well call his bluff -- odd how he has just disappeared from this thread after all the original posters' responses questioned his intent in starting the thread. But I did make Kevin's Gina cue for him -- I cannot tell a lie.

Haha hi Slim Limpy, so you think i am Trent? Haha i'm sorry for not responding to anything as i am too engrossed in just waiting for the next response and reply. After hearing up, i guess mine experience wasn't that bad. Here is mine, i ordered a set of cue from this cue maker and it is a cue he has done but i got him to custom made a shaft blank and make matching ringworks for it. I also had friends who ordered a cue from him and he received it when mine was still in the making and the shaft and butt had bad roll to it, so i was worried for mine and asked the cuemaker if mine will turn out like that but what i got was assurance. To cut the long story short, my cue came and YES there is a roll with the cue and the shaft and it was the joint problem. I requested for a refund and the cue maker claimed he has no money to do that.. there are still alot of factors involved. I know the hardwork and difficulty a cue maker has so i won't name this maker. Just wanted to share. Thanks

I have two cues out, one for a refinish, one for weight adjustment. Both at HOF cue makers.

The refinish will be 3 years this November, the weight adjustment one year I think.

I call them about every 4-5 months to check in. I worry that they'll either die (god forbid), or lose my contact info, or whatever. I'm more concerned about those things than the cues actually getting finished. The only reason they have them is because someone vouched for me (favor I guess you'd call it), so I hang on to hope that one day they'll complete them.

So as far as bad experiences, not yet I guess, but stay tuned. I hope one day to get them so I can share them with you guys.

Kevin

I had mine. And i don't even know whose fault it is. Asked for refund but Cue maker claimed that he have no cash with him already :/ Any similar experiences?

I think if you do a search of the forum archive you will find what your looking for. Outside of that all this is going to do is create drama, I don't think you intentionally are trying to do, at least I hope not.
