Any Cuemakers want to build cues for me?

I represent a cuemaker who has designed a very unique line of cues, but who does not have the capability to build the cues in house.

He is looking for an established cuemaker, in the U.S., who will build the cues, under his specifications and direction, under contract with his logo. He will market and sell the cues, so he is looking for a contract builder only.

Please direct any questions of comments here.

Thank you.

What particular cue are you looking for?low, mid or high end?and what price range?

I would say the finished product, with one shaft, would retail for between $600 and $1,000. Let's call them mid-range.

He would supply the butt blank, want it turned down and tapered, and a hard maple shaft made to match.

A few things it might be helpful to know:

How many
how often
who does the finish

sorta, do you expect a cue he can sell when he gets it back - or just an unfinished
but cut to final size with a shaft

Kinda important - IMHO

Not to put too fine a point on it, but turning down a butt blank, making a shaft, and fitting the two together are fundamental rudiments of cuemaking - they are literally the absolute minimum skills required for the craft. Anyone who is incapable of these simple steps is NOT a "cuemaker" by any stretch of the imagination.

Okay. Fair point. Perhaps my calling my friend a cue maker IS a stretch. He is a business man, with a unique wood product that he wishes turned into finished cues, using his unique wood.

Other, perhaps helpful information: Our best guess at volumes is between 25 and 50 per year, or 2 to 4 per month.

Other details are: He will ship blanks or wood segments for the butt, with instructions on how they are to be assembled. You would make the complete butt and fashion a shaft to match. You would provide all shaft material, rings, joint pins, and the like. Upon return to my client, the cue would be finished, and ready for sale.

Thank you for your interest.

You want a private label.
You might have to get them all made at once.
Jacoby , Pechauer or Schmelke might be your ticket.

smells like a fishing expedition to me..................

Not so. My client had a U. S. based shop making his cues until recently. He has sold over one hundred of his designed cues before his builder went out of business.

He has a web site, a presence in the marketplace, and a name that you may recognize. He has been doing this for a number of years, and prefers to develop and manufacture his wood product, rather than going the next step (purchasing all the required equipment and tooling) to becoming a full-fledged cue maker.

This is a serious inquiry.

Can't help noticing you have several times used the phrase "wood product".

Can one assume you are talking about something that is not wood as we know it?
