Is there any AZers here who belong to a Moose lodge? Reason I'm asking is didn't know if you have free pool there? At our Moose lodge we have a 7 foot Valley CoinOp table it was 75 cents a game until they opened the table. Down in the "Dungeon"-basement they have a 9 foot Brunswick table which is nice and a 8 foot table whick plays really fast.

I do belong to the Moose organization here in Longmont, Colorado. We currently have 6 Valley 7 foot coin ops here. The games are $1.00 each. We have VNEA, APA, starting a BCA league and have weekly tournaments also. We also have held Moose state tournaments and a VNEA State wide tournament which drew 175 competitors. So pool is definetly helping to keep the doors open.

At the Moose here in Willard, Ohio, they have 1 - 7' Valley Table 75cents
per game, and free pool on Sundays. We have two BCA teams play on Monday nights out of the Moose. They buy shirts for the teams, and pay for the teams at the state and national Moose tourny. Also buys pizza for league night

different beast, same idea

I'm a member of The Eagles, and we have a similar arrangement here. We play .25 a game, on five 9-footers in our entertainment room. The lodge hosts APA league nights for us, and pays our session dues as well. There is also an in-house league on weekends, and a jack & jill tournament each thursday night. There is a state-wide club competition between lodges, too.

Great bunch of people that keep the room full most nights, and many afternoons you can find several "seasoned" citizens showing how its (still) done. It's not all league players, either. A good mix all around.

These clubs are great ways to keep local activity growing in pool. Stand alone pool rooms are harder and harder to keep open, it seems. I know there are a few different Elks lodges that do similar things in our area, as well. Funny, for a state where there are lots and lots of moose in the wild, we don't have any Moose lodges. :embarrassed2:
(At least not in my part of the state anyway.)

Are Moose also has two pool teams that play in leagues. Once in a great while we might host a state tourney. They might be having in house pool leagues if we get more tables in the basement.

I'm also a member of the Eagles but our place is too small for a table.

Dude, weren't you a little embarrassed during your initiation when they made you take off your cloths put on a set of Antlers and run around the Dungeon while they fired cap guns and little arrows with suction cups!!!!!!!!!:smile:

I think your getting the Elks and Moose mixed up....lol

We have two 7 ft tables at Moose 1076 in Alexandria, VA
at 75 cents a game

my 2 cents...

i'm not a moose member, but one of the leagues i played in had a team from the moose.
team players were allowed to open the table and play for free as long as it was for practice (not for action matches or horsing around).
just an idea but maybe you could start an in house league.

50 cents a game at my Lodge.
Moose members take part in 2 leagues (part of a pretty good VNEA league with 4 divisions and also a mixed VNEA league)

Thinking about looking into the FOE also.

I am a member of lodge 1665 in lincoln park,mi. We have 4 valleys that stay open at all times and 3 more we store for the state tourny's. Our lodge is one of the most decorated in the state for pool with tournys. There are also several members of my losge that dbl as az'rs on the side..lol.. We have tourny's open to the public on fri and sat also.

I'm a member of a Moose lodge in Grove, Okla. We have four 50cent tables. Not the best but cheap! The lodges here in OK have a spring and fall state tournament. It consists of men's doubles, women's doubles, scotch doubles, and men and women's singles. The format is race to 1 in the winners and 1 in the losers. Pretty brutal.

The 4 Valley boxes in our moose are so bad they can't charge money for them anymore. We have like 6 teams playing out of the moose Monday Tuesday and Thursday, an inhouse league on Sunday and an 8 ball tourney and a 9 ball tourney every Friday and Saturday nights. The tables are beat to hell.

On a side note, how many Moose members here are going to the 25th annual international pool tourney at the College Park MD moose Jun 16-19

I just found out about this tourney and am putting together a 4 man team to go.

And Buckets of beer !

Third year and counting! Made a road trip out of visitning lodges up and down the Cali coast, and on the way to Louisiana, and various other places-
Sometimes it's just fun to drop in sign the book, see new faces and run some racks-
But it's always a good time no matter which one's door you walk into!

The local eagles lodge is the only smoking bar left. So im thinking of joining. Its close too. Itll be nice to hit balls on a barbox and smoke while im having a drink.

We have 3 bar boxes that are open because we like to play with a red circle cue ball, but we need to start charging $0.25 to pay for new cloth. Simonis only lasts 6 months with heavy use they see.

Nice ring games on Friday night!

Our lodge was the host of this years Maryland Moose Tournament with 18 teams of ten. Willie Compton brought in 9 of his best tables for this. It looked like they were making good money on the crowd. A good time was had by all.

We should have a few teams for the Moose Nationals.

No smoking is the best law ever made!
