Any Mosconi team without...

Dechaine is a joke. Please put SVB, dechaine, hall, Bergman, and either archer or Morris or hatch for a vet on the team.

Archer has done absolutely nothing to deserve to be on the team. Any events he plays in these days just act to confirm there is nothing left of the one time world beater he once was.

Rodney, he actually manages to get out there and still give the current top players a run for their money. There is some merit in him possibly getting onto the team.

Rodney is a far more successful and competitive pool professional than Archer these days.

If we send SVB, Dechaine and Hall (the only American who played well in the 2014 Mosconi), we have a shot. To be honest, though, Hall (2nd place in US Open 10-ball and 7th in the US Open 9-ball) is just as obvious as the other two.

Then add two of these (Rodney Morris, Justin Bergman, Jeremy Sossei, Brandon Shuff, Oscar Dominguez, Brian Deska, Skyler Woodward) and you field a strong team.

Agreed that Archer has no business being on this team, having his second consecutive year without any high finishes. Played poorly in his last effort at the Mosconi and captained the worst US Mosconi team ever. Johnny doesn't take down the big names anymore, and that's the assignment at the Mosconi.

I wanna see SVB, Bergman, Hall, Woodward, and Dechaine. That's a group of guys who would mesh very well together and create an atmosphere that would relax one another while still pulling out competitive drive.

Come on CSi Please talk them into playing on a 7 FT BarTable so we have a chance,,oh i forgot..table size doesn't make a difference lol..ps just joking

Archer out

There's no need to take Archer or Hatch neither has done a thing in years. I think we need a few new guys, Josh Roberts?

It's sad to say but we don't have 5 world class players left. Many of the names mentioned are 3rd tier players in the USA. Dechaine will be on the team if he chooses to play. We're gonna get destroyed but at least we can field our best.

The team needs to be strong. I'm not sure Dechaine is a team player. It is a tough choice as you want the strongest players but you also need a team that works well together.

It's fair to say that any team we send will have a very hard time winning, but it's time we sent our best to see if our best can compete with the stars of Europe. Our best means the guys who play well now, not the guys who played well a few years ago.

It would have been cool to see Mike Sigel, Nick Varner, Buddy Hall, Earl Strickland, and Johnny Archer all in their prime compete for the Mosconi Cup.

Even if we send our level best stars, Europe will send a mix of their A squad and JV team, and still wipe the floor with us. Currently, there isn't a team we could send that could beat England's 5 best, or Germany's 5 best (heck, even Europe's junior champions would be even money) let alone if Europe actually sent its top 5 talent for once.

the guys I think would make the best mosconi team this year...

I think Shane, Rodney, Oscar, Hall and Skylar would make a good team for us this year. I think you could substitute Mike for either Hall or Skylar this year since it's in the states. I think Mike needs to play one on home turf before he would be ready to play away again.

You're smoking crack. In the mosconi cup format, it's a crap shoot for any of the top players from either side.

Momentum is on Europe's side, not skill and that's about the same as it was when Europe didn't have a chance in hell against the states.

The mosconi cup format is about entertainment, not about finding the best.

I don't particularly care for Mike D. But clearly he is the second best (and sometimes is THE best) America has to offer. The Mosconi cup is no longer about who will win (that's a forgone conclusion), but rather should be a showcase of America's top talent against whoever Europe feels like scrounging up.

Skill isn't on Europe's side?
