Any Pool Ball Collectors on AZ? Let's trade!

No idea myself, but I would like to see a pic.
I helped someone sell a set on AZ a few years back
The owner sold them herself at a pool hall for quite a bit... I can't remember but it was over $500. I had heard that a set sold for cheap on ebay, but I didnt see them on there.... I have never seen a set on ebay.

In January of 2004 two sets sold on Ebay for about $155 each.
Fine agate type
Although the bits of material are fine w this type, I still refer to them as "agate" because all the different colors are mixed together. There is just more green mixed onto the 6, more yellow in the 9, etc. "Speckled" balls look more like an epoxy shop floor, opaque black 8 ball w bits of a few colors mixed here and there. Speckled is most common, agate is probably only 10% of the sets you'll find.

Seriously...that pocket looks ridiculous. How do you make a ball on that thing?
It's a late 1800s, 5' "parlor" home table...
...and the balls on it are the wrong size for the table. It's my desk... I am displaying my parlor ball sets on it. Probably takes a 2" ball.

They were called Fancy "o" balls, but they were the least fancy set of their time. Sometimes on eBay they are not worth the shipping cost, some days maybe $100.... extremely common. But the set in the photo is in excellent condition. If you can't get $100 for a set that clean, I would keep 'em and play with 'em. Not for collectors though as they are as abundant as the plain house cue.

These are "speckled" pool balls. This is the most common set in the speckled/agate subtype... there were at least three sets like this for sale on eBay just this week, but they are always priced pretty high as sellers think they have a rarity. Neat balls, collectible, but best to hold out for a bargain if you want one of these sets.

Parlor set, black inlaid plug with silver numbers
This set is not that fancy, but you don't see them often. They look like the same make as the speckled set. They have a black inlaid plug with metallic ink numbers. Kinda neat but not a real treasure find.

These appear to be made by the same company as the above balls, but these are bottom-of-the-line. Extremely common, not worth the cost of shipping, unless it's the tiny toy size... came in many sizes from full size to tiny toy balls. If it sounds like I am knocking these, I am. A set of these and two bucks gets you a cup of cheap coffee.

Un-speckled balls
These are the same ball as speckled, just without the speckles. Common. Not a bad ball but not valuable.

Ivorylene Dart balls by Brunswick Balke Collender
This is an Ivorylene Dart type, with what I call "digital" font numbers, because they have numbers with a nontraditional shape that looks like something from an early computer or calculator. These are clay, but the same style ball and number were made in a nice bakelite material that turned brown.... articles at the time stated that players didn't care for them because Brunswick couldn't make the bakelites "white" enough.
This photo shows the white clay version.
