Any really nice pro shops in your area?

Pro shop

Hi,
I've been in Tally for over 25 years doing cue repair and building custom cues. Almost everyone there knows me so ask. I was originally asked to put in a proshop when Snooker's was first opened. I turned it down because of the overhead one has to carry to meet everyone's taste and pocketbook. Most of Tally's poolcue sales are lowend Chinese cues with decals. A very poor choice for playability and longevity. The current repair person who Zingale calls comes in once in roughly two weeks to pickup and repair cues. I will not comment on his ability. I am physically at Zingales on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday evenings (7-9PM) and can meet you and discuss your repairs and show custom built cues that I build. I have been a member of the International Cuemakers Association since 2004. Let's talk and discuss your issues.

Jedi Sales Tricks.
I know this doesn't work on the local Gendarmerie.

Our local Billiard shop sells tables, cues and a host of other home recreational products.

They do tip replacements with a Cue Top sander and a Willard's tip machine.

They cut the boys loose with these, and along with other repair jobs that they pretend that they can do and remain to be a source of income for myself.

So many times I have wanted to help them out (with a few tips and tricks) but one of the guys is a know it all and I just can't force myself to take money out of my pocket.

Any in Arizona?

Anybody know of any nice pro shops near Phoenix or Arizona in general?

Aha a Pro Shop in Corpus Christi, Texas

Pretty smart fella behind the counter. Does excellent work. A bit cranky but that is what makes him fun. You got a question, he has the right answer. You need a stick he has a terrific selection. He is not afraid to lead you if you need it. Rockin Robin, I have appreciated your assistance.

OP we are just across the Gulf come and look.

I went to see a cue maker/repair guy that was operating down in Daytona according to his web site and when I got there his shop had been closed for months. Drove down for nothing.

I stopped by a local pool hall asking about repairs. The owner calls a guy, I don't get to talk to him. He won't give any prices. Drop it off, he picks up on Thursdays, he'll let you know......... Yeah right. Ain't happening. The whole reason I went there was to get eyeball to eyeball with the guy who would touch my cue.

I am a little saddened by these things.
I am sure I know exactly what pool hall you went to. My shop is located just north of that other one. I have a full service shop located within another pool hall. I do not carry a large inventory. However I can answer some of your questions with good knowledge. If I don't know I will... find out for you. The reason he would not give you a price is cause I will never give him a price over the phone and I refuse to do business with him. He has burned so many bridges with so many people that that pool hall is dieing. He ran off the cue guy that was there, then ran off another cue guy. Now he has run me off. I found out he was charging double what the job would sell for. Even after giving him a "Wholesale" discount price on my work. Please PM me and I will come to you or you could come to my shop. Either way I would like to earn your respect then your business!

There is a really nice one in Mid-Michigan........Oh, wait thats mine, so I guess I'm showing some bias...lol

The best cue and supply shop in my area is "THE DART SHOPPE" in Glassport..
Shout out to Holden .. What it be like partner..

There is a great pro shop in Mountoursville PA. Monoskis billiards 100s of cue $20 to $2000. Brunswick dealer and other table company's. Simple cue repair tips ferrules. Eight gold crown fours. Why isn't this place just jammed with players?

In the Bay Area we surprisingly have a number of shops, considering this isn't the pool capitol of US.

The best around here is in the North Bay, Buffalo Billiards in Rohnert Park (they are online as well). It's the best shop, bigger than the others around here but not big enough where they can carry every brand and model of cue under the sun. They have a selecton that beats out the other shops here, but can't compete with the big online pool shops. They do carry tables, cues, supplies, etc... They have some good cues, and you can drive home with one the same day... Compared to other shops here, no other shops here carry Schon cues.

On the Peninsula we have Sequoia Billiards, which used to have a few stores here but with the bad economy has closed down to one shop :( Anyway, they carry a low to mid-level selection of cues; I believe it's the only official Predator dealer in the area. They have all the stuff, cues, tables, accessories, supplies.

In the South Bay, in Campbell we have a place called Len's Billiards. Similar in size to Sequoia with good service, small cue selection, not high-end (they like the Lucasi cues, which is fine, but I didn't see any high-end consumer cues). It's better than buying at a pool hall.

All these stores have been around for decades, and hopfully continue to survive this crappy economy and the bad patch in the world of pool right now. Hopefully it didn't sound like I was plugging these shops, it's just that a lot of players in my area aren't even aware of them (which is amazing to me).

Anyway, good thread.

Hello Everyone, I want to open my doors to anyone close to TAMPA, St. PETE or Largo-

Clearwater,--FLORIDA!!!
I just about 6 months ago, slowly started to gain my health, even though I have to get around on crutches, but, I opened a Billiards Pro-Shop that is 10 feet from a nice pool hall in Largo, Florida--the pool hall is called the "CROOKED CUE" it is where the 2012 women US Amatuer Finals started at for two days before they ended up in Tarpon Springs.
Anyway, my Pro Shop is called
"THE CUEMAN, Kennedys' Billiard Pro-Shop"
14100 US HWY 19--Suite 140
LARGO FLORIDA
727-277-9853

I have collected cues for 25 years and I grew up in Portland Oregon and was started in the Pool World by a great guy who has recently retired, his name is Jim Oswald and he owned the Billiards and Bagels in Gresham, Oregon. Anyway, I was instructed by the best on how to treat a customer and work with every potential new cue or case or accessory buyer, in the same manner that I would want to be treated if I knew--everything about the topic or I knew nothing about a subject matter."
Anyway, Jim always gave the time to answer as few or as many questions as you might have to make you feel comfortable in the buying--decision making process.

So, even though my health is not perfect, I am trying to start a small business in an area that I have loved and has given a lot of enjoyment to me. (POOL!!!), So, I want to slowly give something back.

Currently I have mostly vintage cues that are quality-used but ultra clean to mint condition, I have 200 pool cues, about 75 pool cue cases, and as many accessories as I can fit into my small shop. I also, have a collection of over 10,000 individual tips and over 130 different types of tips, ranging from the 1970's chandiverts to the 1st Generation Mooris' to the New Kamuii Black and Browns to the Moori V. I also offer repairs on cues, mostly, shaft, ferrule, tennon and tip repairs. But, If it needs something more, I have access to great cueman in the local area that I can be used as the go-between to take care of any repairs you might need.
I also, have about 300 books on the subject of Pool, 3-Cushion Billiards, Snooker, etc.

I love this game and if I can help any of you with anything, please feel free to call me or just drop by.

I live in Tally Florida and we don't have a real stand alone shop. Wondering if there are nice ones out there and what they are like. Would love to visit one if it is located between Atlanta and Orlando.

Did Zingales get rid of the old pro shop with the lathe in the back?

They had a pro shop and workshop when it was Snookers.

Mike, it's good to know about you. I was up that way last weekend from Sarasota. Took a trip up to Hammerheads. There are at least 3 pool halls near you that I counted so you're in a good spot. I will plan to try you for my next tip replacements.

Did Zingales get rid of the old pro shop with the lathe in the back?

They had a pro shop and workshop when it was Snookers.

They still do, but I was refering to a larger exclusive shop. Hasn't been one here in town in about 5-7 years.

This is mine in Michigan.
