A week or so after the IPT Tourney in Reno, I was playing at the Jointed Cue in Sacramento and one of the guys was telling everyone that Keith McCready sold his $5,000 Prize to Grady Mathews for $3,500 'cause he wanted to leave early ... If true, that means Grady is now out $8,500 ... What a laugh !!!

It was Billy Incardona that bought it for $4500.

...Oh, I almost forgot the point of my post. So Sunday rolls around at the end of the IPT event in Reno, and Keith knew doggone well that if he did not bring home that IPT check, well, he may as well think about hanging his hat in Reno for a spell, as far as I was concerned. The IPT events are expensive for us. I cannot imagine what a financial drain they are on our brethren overseas.

Before the finals on Sunday, the players were required to be at the tournament room, one hour before post, which, of course, they all complied with, as the vision of a big fat IPT check danced around in their heads, but as we all know today, there were no checks. :(

Keith has always had an uncanny ability to smell money wherever he goes. If there's prospective action in the joint, he'll find it and make it happen. You can count on it, which is why he is a popular kind of guy in some venues. He's actually kind of funny when he gets to barking, especially if he gets a game, and then there is no other place in the world that Keith would rather be than on that field of green playing for the cash.

So, as the players in Reno were exiting the tournament room with their tail between their legs, Keith zeroed in and locked eyeballs with his good friend Billy Incardone. I don't know how he knew it, but Keith knew Billy was holding pretty good. Thinking about how I was going to react if he came home empty-pocketed, Keith approached Billy with a proposition, offering him 10 percent of what he had coming, a nice fat nickel, if he'd give him the balance, with a caveat that Billy will be stuck if there are no checks are forthcoming.

Fortunate for Keith and not so fortunate for Billy at this juncture, Billy gave Keith 4,500 in cash. Keith immediately went to pay off a few creditors that he acquired during his brief stay in Reno and then brought home the bacon, which actually was a pleasant surprise to me. I believe that Billy will get paid, but he is definitely earning his $500 fee. :o ...

That's some weird math there. If this was true, I believe Grady would be out $3500?

At any rate, he should be out $1300 at this point anyways, but it doesn't really matter much as it appears this is not a completely accurate account of events anyways. :)

If he paid McCready $3500 and NEVER received the $5000 he won, then he is out $8500 ...

If it was Incardona, then he is out $9500 ... 'cause he didn't get his $5000 either ...

Let me make another run at this ....

McCready, Mathews, and Incardona ALL won $5,000 even though they were eliminated the first day ... It was supposed to be "guaranteed money" ... None of these guys have been paid ANY money yet, except for McCready, who received money from one of the other two players ... That Player, whomever he is, is out the $5,000 he did not receive from the Tournament plus the money he gave to McCready ...

If you earn money and never get paid, then you are OUT that much money.

Those players did not travel to Reno to "pick daisies", so I firmly believe they are OUT whatever money they earned and did not receive.

This is called fuzzy math. Nice try, but no sale.

Politcians are only familiar with calculus at the best. I'll just say that entails a lot of inconsistencies, which have been revamped.

I thought the players had received a few payments for a total of 33%. I stopped following the threads when they became so full of crap that you couldn't wade thru the truths and the bs.
Why don't you just ask Keith? If you want to know his private business this bad I'm sure they would give you an answer.

Truthfully, I couldn't care less Who owes Who what, unless they owe ME .. I heard the story (about McCready) and was just asking a simple question .. that required a simple answer .. I was looking for a friendly place, with light-hearted (tongue-in-cheek) conversation about Pool, etc., when I found this Forum .. I am coming to realize that I am an Outsider and must be willing to take a verbal pounding before I have earned my "stripes" .. I have found this to be true on every Forum I have participated in, whatever the topic .. Thanks for "allowing" me into your world for a few months ..

Here is the what Keith's girlfriend wrote:

I hope this helps. Apparently, the players have been paid 44% of what they were owed so Billy would have received $2200 to date, leaving him out $2300 (on the Keith deal).

However, Incardone, I heard picked all except one of the finalists in the prior event and won well over six figures with oddsmakers, so I think he may be in the top 5 of people who made money as a result of the IPT.

I'm surprised someone as shrewd as Incardona went for that deal, I mean obviously a 10% guaranteed return in a few days makes excellent business sense but I would have wondered if the cash was really guaranteed, despite the earlier payouts from previous tourneys.

I wonder if Keith is signing over his monthly checks:)

I was real surprised by this deal too. I was there for the tournament and when the checks weren't there, many of the players and myself felt things were quite dodgey and getting a check in the future was no better than 50/50.

A friend of mine also loaned a player all of his $5K and has not seen a dime back yet. :(

1. That's a pretty bad way to treat someone who's made a loan, especially if the borrower has already collected the 33% paid by IPT up to this point.

2. Incardona didn't make a loan....he made a purchase, big difference;)
