Any update on Biloxi Mike's murder?

Not that I've heard, here's the pic I saved to the desk top, let's keep it going.

Ocean Springs Police Department has limited resources, as most small towns do.

Though this is a capital murder case now, there does not seem to be as much emphasis in seeking justice for a middle-aged Caucasian man who was murdered for trying to do a good deed. It's a damn shame and makes me sick to think about it.

I have heard of the wheels of justice moving slow, but somebody's got the brakes on this murder investigation, and I'm not sure who to point fingers at.

After MANY PEOPLE tried to help by writing letters, contacting "America's Most Wanted," creating a website, posting on numerous social media websites with the picture of the so-called "person of interest," nothing seems to have provided a clue.

I can only hope that the law enforcement, Federal and State, are keeping mum about any leads they have to date and will pounce upon this murderer in due time.

Somebody out there knows this guy. I'm sure by now he has altered his appearance, but he was seen at another pool room trying to lure a young lady away from it, stating he was in the entertainment industry. Fortunately, he failed. She is still alive. Mike Surber wasn't as lucky. :(

At the risk of being redundant, does anyone know if the video from the poolroom was ever shown on Youtube? I would have liked to seen the perp's image in front of millions of people.

Met a guy at my local bar that's a dead ringer for this guy. I took a picture of him and would like a second opinion before I turn this into the FBI. I'd hate to make trouble for this guy if it's not him but at the same time I don't want him to skip out of town if this is the guy. Please send me your email if you can help in private message.

Thanks

If it's not the guy I'm sure whoever it is could understand & would be ok with the misunderstanding....A tip by a good samaritan looks like it will be the only way to catch this guy.

The police or FBI are the best people to help with that. Asap...before he darts.

Make sure you see the car he is driving and get the plate number. Just in case!

The said thing about many crimes, even murder. If the Police get their "suspect" the prosecutor may let them plea bargain to a lessor crime. As a cost saving measure! Sad it become in many case about money, and clearing the books of a case with ease.

Also in many cases wanted felony caught in another state walk because the state that want then has no money to go pick em up.

Thanks guys. Called and got the night dispatch they called Lt. Flowers at home and he called me directly. I sent the photo and the guy gave me his phone number so I'll keep you up to date if anything comes of it. Thanks again for your sound advice.

Reps to you for going that extra mile !

I've been trying for two weeks to speak with the lead investigator again about putting the surveillance video on to YouTube. Despite a good history of communication, so far the officer has not returned my calls.

I spoke today with the guy who has the recording of the suspect from the surveillance DVR. It was he who pulled the still pics off the recording to post on the internet and other places.

I had asked the owner of Skeeters if he still had a copy of the surveillance. He said that he'd given it to the local guy for processing, and the owner gave me his number to call him to see if he'd put it on YouTube, or to have someone else do it.

The guy said he couldn't release the recording because he's afraid of getting in trouble with the police for interfering with an investigation. I told him that I don't believe there would be a problem with that, but that I could understand his concern. However, we seem now to be in a little of a "Catch 22" situation. Perhaps the owner can get a copy back, and HE could have it put on YouTube.

The video tech guy did offer some interesting tactics to help the authorities. He said if someone could write a simple program, or use a stock program to automatically pull key words/phrases of the web (such as "walking out on bar check", "pony tail con man", "phony recording studio owner", and the like), that the hits would help track this guy.

He also suggested making up a sheet with the suspect's picture, m.o., crime info, etc., and send it to all the southern state prison wardens, sheriff's departments, and the like-- certainly in Miss., Ala., LA, Tenn, Fla. He said that Emails are often overlooked, but that posters or pictures can be attached to bulletin boards for officers to look at coming on or off shift. Evidently this was suggested to Mike's brother.

The thinking is that most probably this suspect has done time, or has been arrested for similar crimes.

If anyone has knowledge of how to do the automatic internet search thing, it would really be a big help. I know JAM has bent over backwards, and has tirelessly given of her time to help this case out. But I don't know if she has the knowledge to do this or not. Anyone else?

The tech had mentioned "Google Alert". Is anyone familiar with that?

Thanks~ Doc

Thanks Doc. I hate the thought of this becoming just one more cold case. I think all the suggestions are good ones, and would like to see them put in effect sooner rather than later. It bothers me that the lead investigator won't return your calls. I would keep after him and a member of Mike's family should do the same. I say Pester His Ass!
