Unfortunately, I forgot to double check the dates of something that I have to be home for this coming week and of course...bad timing. It would have been an expensive trip as well and I am nowhere near ready since I haven't been playing. I'll definitely be in Indiana though. As for the others, I know Tracie also had other commitments with her family. The others, I'm not sure.
Sorry I missed everyone. Good luck to everyone still in the tournament and the guys that are getting ready to start next week.

I just got home from the tourney and the ladies that just won or lost are in the $600 to $700 range with the winners picking up some more maybe. As long as you were not two and out I think you got $600 but with a $500 dollar entry fee that don't help much. Several pro players tried to make some money today at the Viking stop but were unlucky to run into some good shooting local players, two of the locals are paired up with Nevel and Hatch tommorow as the only four left in the winners side. One local still in the winners side bought himself in the auction for 10 bucks.

The WPBA is going to price it's self right out of business. As it is right now if you don't have a GOOD sponsor, you or your family have money, or your one of the top ten on the WPBA Tour who were ALREADY champions in their own country before coming on tour here, it's a losing battle.
I'm sure the economy is not helping the tour one bit right now. But when regulars on the tour start not showing up, that spells trouble. Not very long ago if just one of the regulars didn't make a tour stop it was very unusual. Now, not so much. Johnnyt

Dead on. The BCA wanted 32 women and 32 men for the tournament. The WPBA wanted a full field. That's why they added two days (Friday and Saturday) to get the field down to 32 to fit into the schedule. The extra time needed, plus the fact that they are running two tournaments at the convention center is the reason it stretched out so long.
Charlotte is the place to be this week if you love pool. The Viking tour is about 20 minutes away in Monroe, NC, the WPBA, the UPA players all playing this week, and the BCA trade show starts Thursday at the convention center. Of course, in keeping with tradition of southern hospitality, we managed to schedule a heat wave for this week, just to make life interesting. We have been pushing 100 for the past few days, and we have a few days to go.
One update from the late rounds last night. Ewa dropped a close match with Allison in the afternoon, then ran into a buzz-saw in the form of Val Finnie, who eliminated Ewa with some incredible shot making, and an awsome display of defense in the final game where she managed to 3-foul Ewa to take the match 9-6.

Well, Iris is doing well. Looks like she has taken out Val Finnie and Julie Kelly on the winner's side. She gets Ga Young Kim next.

Nostroke...Did Hazel Cook play at the BCAPL tournament in Vegas this year? I met her last year, and wanted to spend some time with her. Anyone have any contact info for her?

It's funny, I just noticed something. Earlier, I noticed this tournament not being completely double elimination, as it has been. But even then, I hadn't realized the format was a little different. The re-draw occurs at the final 8 rather than the final 16.
