Any Updates on the Indy Tourney?

Everyone should have showed up at brickyard this weekend, It look like the derby city classic with all the action going on. 5-10-15-20dimes whatever you wanted.

Now Brian.... that's just a teaser.... fill us in on the details! You know, for all of us who couldn't be there (bummer :frown:).

Tell Mac next time....check with me first to make sure that weekend is open!! It was brutal not being able to be there!

Janette was in action twice for 15, I like janettes game, she plays good and you never here her say anything. Although their was a player who played a set for six dimes and only got like 300 or 350 for playing. Thats sick.

I walked in Friday night, and Strong Arm was playing Lutman for 3 dimes. Watched George playing some one handed with a guy for a dime on Sat.... One guy loses his first match, forfeits out of the tourney, {payed the guy who bought him in the calcutta back his money} and was matched up for 5 dimes on the Diamond barbox. That was the main action table, for all you barbox haters. Strong Arm John didn't play in the tourney and was in action a large part of Sat. night.... Yes, there was a ton of action going on. There were games played, games woofed, and plenty of money around. I bet the next one is even stiffer than this field.
For anyone interested, Brian Groce did the calcutta. Great job Brian.... I've been to a lot of tourneis where they had 128 players and didn't get as much in the calcutta. $6750 total, for 64 players..... Only $450 for Justin Bergman in the first blind bid. But managed to get $700 for Shannon Murphy half way thru the field. {who by the way, failed to cash} There was a woman in the field named Terri, don't recall the last name, played really good pool. She got 2 games going to 9, and took Justin to the hill. Then beat Mark Jarvis a couple of matches later, 9 to 4. Overall, this was a really tough field. Congrats to all the players, Especially Frankie Bruce, who is rated as a "C" player at the Indy handicapp tournies. GREAT JOB FRANKIE!!!!!!!.

Indy Event

DAMN! I am pissed....we left out Saturday night because all three of us were out and a little upset that none of us cashed. I was able to snap off $200 in a mini-tourney on Friday night though and was only out the money I spent to buy half myself in the calcutta.

I would have liked to have sweat some of that action on Saturday! I have to admit this was my first experience with a tournament like this. I was so geeked on Friday night from the excitement that I could barely sleep. I played so well on Friday night and felt that I was in stroke for Saturday...then I was only able to sleep for about an hour or two before getting up on Saturday morning! This had a huge detrimental effect on my game come Saturday as I could not "see" a damn thing. Complete opposite from the day before... Oh well.... Lesson learned...

I will definitely be attending the DCC this next time around and any other major event I can make it out to...

This definitely helped all of us to see where our game is currently at and what we need to work on.

Nice meeting you Patrick. Will definitely have to make a trip up to the Milw. area sometime.

As I posted in the tournament section:

The Calcutta actually had 7450 and -10% was $6750.

Strangest Calcutta I have ever seen. Justin goes blind bid for $460. They sell one blind bid. Than Shannon Murphy goes for $700. Brian Groce goes for over $500. I have seen players go for more than the blind bid before but never to that extreme. Second Calcutta, Justin goes blind bid again for $230. Brian Gregg goes for $300 and Brian Groce for $340 (or thereabouts).

And again, Shannon Murphy talked about playing Justin all weekend but when it came down to it wanted to play a 10 ahead set for $800. Hopefully sometime Shannon will show up in the same building with Justin and have some money in his pocket.

Some other things I saw this weekend. A player was gambling, two other guys (who are both known players and known gamblers) are betting on the side. The player wins and one gambler who won $2200 gave him a $100 jelly, the other gambler wins $1000 and gives the player a $60 jelly. In case you aren't good at math, that is only 5%.

As Satman stated, this is really horrible how pool players treat each other.

Also, Indianapolis must have a different definition of what a C player is than say St. Louis or most likely the rest of the country. Not only is/was Frankie Bruce rated a C player but I was told so is Nesli O'hear, who is a former women's pro player.

Well I dont think it would be right to have them ranked as a D player...

BTW, in the match against Bergman - Bankin B one railed a ball, straight back underneath him that was froze to the end rail, inside the first diamond and I still have no idea how he made the ball.

Another player also told me he watched Bankin B hit some balls on Saturday on the big table and make 17 banks in a row. Got me thinking - I wonder what the record is for banks made?

The only thing I didnt care for was the women getting 2 on the wire. Could someone explain why they deserve to get weight?

And no, I didnt have to play any of them LOL.

Satman how come I have to buy all the beer all the time

Because,

Satman how come I have to buy all the beer all the time

You're supposed to take care of us old people. Alright, I'll buy. I'll have a cooler in the truck. Can't afford that $3.50 a beer stuff.

That straight back on the rail, he makes that, because he's a bankin machine. Bugs probably taught him the secret to that. And 17 in a row aint that many when he's just throwin em' out on the table like that. Sorry Brian, but your action got knocked a long time ago. Gonna have to do an Efren if you wanna be an unknown. Move to a foreign country, like maybe Chili, {never seen any pool players from there before} and play under an alias.

Also, Frankie is a "c' player, and as far as I know hasn't won a "c" tourney. His game is just starting to pick up, and he had a great weekend. Probably had some extra adrenaline from playing in the midst of all these guys. Scared to miss a ball. As for Nesli, she don't fair too well in the open "c" tournies as a general rule. It appeared to me, that only 1 woman really stood out not needing the 2 games. No offense intended to any of the women.

Brian just moves that good......

Like I said, they must have a different defiintion of a C player in Indy. Here in St. Louis, a C player is someone that might break and run out once a day, if at all. Usually someone that can run 5 -6 balls max. Doesn't really matter to me. Terri definitely was a nice female player who definitely had skills. Nesli also cashed this weekend, I believe. And was gambling even with Dennis Schroeder (is he a C player as well?)

Not sure

I've known Dennis a long time. I think they put him in the "B" bracket, but not sure. The tourney at John Waynes, that Bank B and Jack runs, they have started doing 3 levels of c players. C-,, C .. and C+.... They all get drawn in certain areas on the board, so they play people of their own skill to start. But yea, C' players in Indiana are capable of running an occasional rack more than once a day. Last handicap tourney I played, a "B" player ran a 4 on me. There are some "C"players who every now and then will run a couple of racks.

Gotta get to work, have a great day all. :)

lol

None taken, I was just excited to get to play in my first barbox tournament! Nervous but excited! Mac definitely ran a great tournament!

Frankie Bruce had just went up to a B player at our tournaments before Mack's tournament, I gotta tell ya I'm proud of him to play as well as he did and he mentioned that at one time in the tourn. He felt good to make his Dad proud of him, Got my respect for that.
