I was looking on matchroom and they said that the mosconi would be streamed live online...but the sites say Europe only or Asia only or man-eating pandas only... Does anyone know if it is possible to watch live in the US???

It may be possible to access the live streams if you used a Proxy server outside the USA to connect to the site through.

I can't believe that this "international" event won't be available to watch stateside. I can understand if they don't/can't put it on "tv" but no stream available? hopefully someone will put it on sopcast as that may be the only way we can watch. What a dissapointment. so much hype, ask the Americans to help pick players. then ... NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

update:

well maybe I'm wrong, but based on the Matchroompool.com website, it looks like the "streams" will be blocked in the UK. I'm guessing because they have access to Sky sports on the tube. Hopefully that is the case and we Americans can sweat the action over the web from one of the 5 or so betting sites that are supposed to host the stream. Guess we'll find out.

anyone have more definitive news?

I know we will be producing lots of things for the website to have daily coverage and scoring but I don't think streaming is going to be available. I will check with Matchroom to confirm and if that is correct, I'll get info on why. If I had to guess I would assume it's similar to the same reason that the WPBA can't stream the finals (TV rounds), ESPN owns the productions rights to that. So I would assume that Sky Sports has a similar agreement. But again, I will cofirm.

On a side note, the Mosconi Cup WILL be aired on Fox Sports in the U.S. just as it was last year, it just won't be aired live. It will be played a couple of weeks/months later just as the WPBA events are.

unfortunately this is a prime example of why pro pool is going nowhere in the US. watching sports on tv is much more exciting when it is live, not so much when you already know what happened b/c it match took place months ago.

Europe vs USA in Mosconi Cup. Europe gets TV USA doesn't. Seems fair to me....NOT. Johnnyt

I can't believe it is Europe vs USA and USA people can't watch !!! I mean this is really twisted.

To me it smells like the Mosconi Cup promoters would like the US to leave so they could have Europe vs Asia. Johnnyt

Relax Johnny.

If you think it is easy can't you just call Matchroom Sport and tell them how to get pool live on tv in USA? I am sure they would LOVE that info, and probably pay you good also.

PM me if you want to call them, and I'll give you the contact-info to Luke Riches, the guy that is responsible for the Matchroom Events.

STREAMING. Is that so hard? Johnnyt

I think so, as long as Sky Sports own the tv-rights. If they stream it I think Sky Sports would want nothing to do with the event, and then there would be no money to pay the losing team and captain $ 7500 each and the winning team and captain $ 15000 each.

Yeah you're probably right on that. It really sucks for the US fans though. Johnnyt

Yeah, it does. But download Sopcast, and then you can watch Sky Sports live on your computer.

Don't know what channel Sopcast will use, they have thousands I think, but I'm sure someone will figure it out when it starts.

OK, thanks Roy. I have it downloaded already. Johnnyt

Here's another site to check http://www.tvunetworks.com/ It's very similiar to Sopcast. You have to d/l it as well. I have had luck in the previous yrs with it.

And another ....... http://www.channelsurfing.net/ This one was recently recommended to me by a friend. Haven't tried to use it yet, It's supposed to handle the majority of the sporting events. NFL, NBA, Boxing, and UFC events.

Good luck!!
