Anybody else get this?

Use Google Check Out as payment..

Or start calling the spots an item. ( "i would like item number 5 and 12..")

just some ideas:confused:

My account just got shut down as well . I have already provided them with resolution.

Too bad a couple rats have to ruin a good thing for everyone.

I enjoyed participating in the raffles as much as I enjoyed hosting them.

This thread isn't all that long, but it has gotten a little longer than I have time to sit and read, so I'm tossing this idea into the middle and hope you'll all forgive me, if it's already been suggested.

If someone needs help, lots of folks from our forum jump in and donate to help out, right? What if everyone donated a selected amount to help a person be able to afford to buy a really nice cue??? We donate to help when someone dies. We donate to help someone get to a championship tournament they really want to go to. We donate to help with all sorts of things. Too bad more folks aren't members of this forum, so they could donate to all these causes, too.

"Here's my donation to help him afford to buy this nice cue."'

This forum is made up of so many really nice folks who help each other out, quite often. Obviously, it now needs to be spelled out in that manner.

Y'all have a great day! :)

Thoughts like that is what separate the avg. from the extraordinary..

You need to figure out some other method to make/accept payment. Perhaps Google check-out would work, but they probably have policies in place similar to Paypal.

Paypal says they prohibit the use of Paypal as a method of making/accepting payments for "Lottery tickets, including using PayPal to buy or sell tickets, vouchers, or any other "opportunity" to participate in a lottery or any other game of chance, whether privately-run or administered by a public entity. This includes, but is not limited to, raffles, drawings, sweepstakes, pools, or any other form of game/contest involving the distribution of prizes or monetary compensation."

All every one needs to start doing is what i do when i pay for a raffle. I never put the #'s i picked, and i never put that its for a raffle.
All i put on my payment is the item, and my user id.
example:
Justis Case,
joeboxer

They dont have to know its for a raffle.

I suggest asking for PMs for your Paypal address, and denying requests from those with less than 100 or 200 posts on the forum. This should keep things going for a while, at least until another method of quick payment can be secured.

Here's another tip. Don't link your Paypal account to your primary checking account. Frequently, Paypal will lock up your bank account as well as your Paypal account if a buyer makes any kind of stink, either real or contrived. If that happens, your primary checking account can be locked up for a month while they investigate. Open a seperate bank account for linking to Paypal, and transfer funds received out of that account as soon as they are received to protect yourself.

That wont be enough. Most of the members who paid for my raffle(the one paypal linked to in the email) didnt put down the numbers. Paypal arent stupid, they know the raffles are being done here and will connect you to it if they want to. the only way I could see would be to not advertise paypal at all in the raffle, and sell 46 of something. That might make it a bit harder for them to prove it, and they may move on to something else that is more blatant.

They shut down your account after you did the "I Agree" thing?

And yeah, I clicked on the thing and saw that you just had to type that in. The email says to print it off, sign it, and mail it in though.

I never received an email .

My account is now back in good standing is the message I recieved when I logged in.

Ya know, it sux that this is happening.

HOWEVER, there were many, many AZers who immediately cried FOUL when this Raffle stuff started. At least one of them was abused (not fixed, just abused), and a few people (including one Attorney) chimed in on why these "Raffles" could be deemed illegal.

Was it right for BPG to run to PP and stir things up? NO!
Is he (and whomever else reported) an effen scumbag loser douchebag? YES

But now that they've been notified, you can't blame PP for protecting themselves. It's a multi-billion $ co and these are really lotteries for personal/private gain, not "Raffles".

So let's focus on developing a work-around for this challenge.

For beginners, petition Mike to change the name of the sub-forum. You have NO DEFENSE if you start a thread in the RAFFLE section.

well ya just need to do it the old fashion way, after the raffle is full, evryone mails out payment via money order, once every thing is collected then hold it on the following drawing. screw paypal and their money scamming tactics.....

or post it like many sellers do "method of payment to be determined via PM". That way, you would not list Paypal in the ad, and you could decide with the PM selecting the numbers whether to accept MO, Google check-out, PP, etc as the method of payment for each individual.

paypal just needs to stick with what they do...exchange money between people. If anything was illegal az would be responsible for advocating it. paypal doesnt need to play legal police. im pretty sure i can buy a prostitute outside of vegas and use my paypal debit card. why do they chime in here and ruin a raffle and consider that illegal activity. it doesnt make sense. and no i havent bought a prostitute with my debit card. we will see how my apa teams do this year :o)

Read this people.

I was permanently banned from P*&^al for saying "dont mention P*&^al in my threads.

Keep ALL payment discussion private.

Just thinking out loud after reading all of this thread. It might be a good idea to eliminate the raffle posts as soon as it has been finalized. This would cut back on people coming in and seeing all the "RAFFLE" stuff.

Whenever I send $$ for raffles, I always send it as a gift, and note on the payment voucher, "Dear -----, hope this helps". and sign it with my AZB user name. So, tell me does that tie into any sort of "RAFFLE" ?

Subscribed for some opinions...

"Dear -----, hope this helps" -----sounds like a good idea than sending no note on payment.

You guys here have an escrow service why not have a storefront that takes credit cards and charge a fee to the seller !

While I have yet to host a raffle I think saying "Dear -----, hope this helps" sounds like a good idea. Would it help if each time a listing or pm used the word "payment" it was replaced with "donation". Then maybe the overall heading could be changed from "Raffles" to something vague like "Contests".

Just a thought.

This is one of the reasons we did the insert cue for our latest. You are buying a cue, there is a chance that in YOUR box is a 16k cue.

I had this trouble and yes, someone is being a scumbag.
