Anybody else get this?

Fvck eGay and PayNotMyPal, both will screw you if given even 1/2 a chance. Someone hacked my Paypal account and charged some international calling card in euros lol Surprisingly enough Paypal caught it but when I noticed and called and was like wtf how could this happen, their only advice was to buy a security keyfob that would work for both paypal and ebay. I wanted to say suck my balls and you should increase your site security and compensate me for my fear, worry, and anguish lol, but for the $5 that they can take from your account for the device, I decided to get it. It creates a unique 6 digit code that lasts for only 30 seconds, so someone would have to steal it from me and know my login and password to screw me again. It's not going to help you here Burns but worth doing anyway. I'll explain where to get it in a sec. Burns, I'll be at work tomorrow and have printer, scanner, stamps, and can fedex or ups to space, overnight. It won't solve the needing the signature on the affidavit on your end but feel free to contact me if you would like my help. 888.994.7766 x237, Anthony. As far as the keyfob, here's the link ~ https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs...iven/securitycenter/PayPalSecurityKey-outside

peace out, good luck, and raffle on brothers

Ill be alright, but thanks though for the offer. Im just going to mail it to them and stay away from the raffles. Im in some right now that Ive already paid for. Do you guys think I should ask the raffle runners for a refund on these spots to avoid any more problems?

I remove my e-mail address from my raffles after they have been completed, but you are exposed during your raffle if it's posted, unless you do as one poster suggested and only PM the address to the participents. Now that I think about it, that might be a good idea now that we know they are looking. If nobody else has been contacted, this still sounds like a direct result of one guy reporting another. Hopefully it won't become a larger issue.
Mr H

I dont think there are any patterns, because the amounts are different based on how many spots people buy, and also where they live(currency conversion). Im pretty sure that after BPG24 ratted it out, they looked at previous raffles. The one they noted for me was about 6 months ago, so they may be starting from the early ones and contaqcting the operators.

Also, they pretty much list every possible alternative name for a raffle in their terms of acceptable use policy so I dont see that theres any way around it.

Well there you go then, so basically all of you know that if PayPal freezes your money you know why.

I'd say then you all need to figure out another way to run your stuff - maybe you announce that the raffle is a free one with an administrative fee of x-amount.

Or perhaps you could sell free advice seminars for $10 a spot and award a bonus prize to one lucky attendee. Where there is a rule, there is a loophole.

No. Participating in a raffle is not the issue. It's running them that seems to be the problem.

The raffle runners only owe you a refund if their raffle doesn't go off.

From PayPal's standpoint I can see how this would be an issue. Imagine if someone runs a raffle and then doesn't deliver the goods, as in there were no goods to begin with. Then Paypal gets dozens of dispute claims but the guy is already gone with the money.

You can imagine that there would be TONS of "too good to be true" type raffle scams going on elsewhere on the net with the payments going through PP if they allowed it. And those scams would probably have tens of thousands of payments.

I think you all here have it down to a science by using the Powerball. There really isn't much that can go wrong i suppose. But PP's rules are rules.

What you SHOULD consider is possibly having one person set up a merchant account of their own and running all the payments through that.

For example: A merchant account can be set up that has online input of credit card #s by the customer. The person who administers the merchant account never sees the actual credit card numbers. Each buyer goes and makes their payment on their own. They can even get a 16 digit virtual credit card number from paypal to use. Then the administrator pays out the collected money to the raffler.

That way you bypass PayPal altogether. But you run the risk of having to trust one person or a group of persons with lots of money from all these raffles.

Personally I find the raffles a hard way to sell stuff. When I used to do them at the big tournaments I used to joke that I had to sell 50 people to sell one case. I would hate to have process all the PayPal payments and do all the admin stuff. But I admit it's fun to watch you all do it.

What JB suggests has actually been mentioned before...you can sell work sheets/seminars on self improvement, career advice or other bs for the raffle amount. This is not illegal as you would actually be buying a product, ie a pdf-file with, say, 10 steps to self improvement.

1. Be sure to get up in the morning.
2. Well, you get the idea by now...

:)

You can sell some wink wink "diet plan" which gives you an entry into a contest. ;)

oh I see I'm late to the party never mind

I think the way to get around it is to get your bids started at a certain amount, Say $5, then each new bidder, the amount goes up by .01. This way is won't be the same amounts.

Just make a PDF of a ebook, small very short, one page.. Called the Joy Of Cue ownership. Charge the amount of the the spot, then people can order multiple copies, email delivery of the book with a statement that a hard printed copy is not available.

That why an item is being sold and delivered. But you know its a raffle...

Man this sucks i enjoy the raffles , even though i didn't win one yet. I got close to winning a few. For guys like me its a pretty decent way to try and get a nice cue or a nice case. I hope everyone can find a way around this. I still wanna play the raffles after BCA in vegas.

Please brainstorm some solutions Raffle Runners :(

Man this really sucks that one person or a few is ruining these raffle's for us. :mad:I hope the case raflle that you doing is still going off.

oh it will go off no matter what. even if i dont fill all of the spots. if they try and stop people from paying me with paypal i will just have them send it to one of my friends accounts instead and say it was for something else than the raffle. if it doesnt work im sorry to say that this will be my last "drawing" using paypal.

i understand paypal is trying to cover their own butts but they need to understand what they are and stop trying to be world police. its not money laundering and no crimes have been commited. a crime needs to have a victim. there are no victims here.

you know some broke bum probably tries to pay rent by winning these and selling them and its not working so he tried to ruin it for the rest of us.....but i bet they have a powerball or lottery ticket in their wallet or car right now....what a bum. noone that is good at pool would ever say that this is gambling . they should be banned from az.

F'IN DING!!!! They just got another. Guess what email I just got? F'in sucks and I'm absolutely pissed. I will no longer accept paypal. If I must, I will send a payment using them but they get not one more cent of my money. Bullshit.

and what burns my ass the most....is that they provided a direct link to the raffle on here. Somebody blew me in and provided the link. I would love to meet that rat b'stard face to face......I'm so heated.

Anyhow, burns420 just log onto your paypal account and go to resolution center. You just have to read the terms link and provide the violated site and then click on the other link and type I agree and your account will be back in good standing. I'm sending out the last few payments from my account and then that's it. Not one more cent goes to paypal and ebay if I can help it.

wow, too much drama just cause a guy didn't luck out on the raffle... someone on here has to know the guy that started this shit...

Idea.....

This thread isn't all that long, but it has gotten a little longer than I have time to sit and read, so I'm tossing this idea into the middle and hope you'll all forgive me, if it's already been suggested.

If someone needs help, lots of folks from our forum jump in and donate to help out, right? What if everyone donated a selected amount to help a person be able to afford to buy a really nice cue??? We donate to help when someone dies. We donate to help someone get to a championship tournament they really want to go to. We donate to help with all sorts of things. Too bad more folks aren't members of this forum, so they could donate to all these causes, too.

"Here's my donation to help him afford to buy this nice cue."'

This forum is made up of so many really nice folks who help each other out, quite often. Obviously, it now needs to be spelled out in that manner.

Y'all have a great day! :)
