Hey guys and gals,

I have an old Meucci OL-1 that has a warped forearm. I was wondering if anyone here or anyone knows of someone that would fix my cue?

I've tried contacting Proficient many times, but never got replied from them or said they were backed up.

Any cue makes on here want to make an easy buck? Thank you.

Thanks.

If its the forearm, you are SOL. If the butt is warped in the handle area, lots of guys can help you out.

An easy buck? My guess is that Proficient would give you a good refinish but they're probably not interested in replacing a forearm on a Meucci. I'm not being dis-resectful, but if the forearm is warped it needs to be replaced. That's a pretty detailed repair and the cue will probably play way different than the original. It would probably be cheaper to replace the cue, especially if you want to preserve the Meucci hit.

Warped Butt?

If you find someone who can fix warped butts, please let me know. We have a lot of them in my pool league and lots more in the chatrooms.

Unless you have an extremely collectable meucci, it isn't worth it... And if you do, leave it original because it will be worth more. You are going to get charge a lot for that kind of job because it will most likely involve replacing the entire forearm and depending onthe detail... could get pretty intensive. Proficient doesn't want to deal with a low end production cue. They make their money off big time custom repairs.

My suggestion... just buy a new meucci or upgrade to a custom from a good maker.

If it is sentimental value, just hang on to it above the mantel and get a different shooter.

No disrespect intended, just my opinion.

Thanks for the chuckle. When I read the title of the thread, I knew exactly what you meant, but I couldn't help but wonder what a layperson would think when reading this title.

Usually the warpage is in the handle, not the forearm. The cost on a Meucci is roughly $150 to replace the handle, plus $50 for new wrap, and $100 or so for a complete refinish - so total about $300.

It's better to sell it as "warped" as a discount and buy another cue. A warped handle isn't so bad in terms of playing cue. A warped shaft is really what affects play. If a forearm is truly warped, then you will need to do the above plus furnish another forearm from a used cue that isn't warped.

The best way to contact Proficient is to call him during his posted business hours on the east coast- Scot picks up almost every time I call him.

Thank you gents. After speaking with Ryan (Ratcues) I did some research and hypothesized that to fix the warm in the forearm, I would most definitely have to replace it. And that would cost $300-infinite. I think I will end up keeping it just due to it's classic design. For an investment, I think I would ask a custom cue maker to make me the same cue for about what it would take to restore it. Thanks again.
