Curious. I've always been a separate Jump Cue fan, because I do not like to break with Phenolic. I use Hard Water Buffalo on my break cue.

Is anyone thinking of changing over so that they can still use a Phenolic tip on their jump cue.

Tips

Will break with playing cue, but still jump with white diamond.

Where are they illegal?

I use a McDermott Stinger and sent it into Jerry of Jerico Cues to have his new leather break tip put on it. Thing jumps and breaks way better than before. I especially feel like I have way more control when jumping. With the phenolic tip if I hit if off center just a bit it wouldn't jump as well. Now, with the leather, it grips the ball better on off center hits and jumps great!

i normally just play cheap sets so they're not banned for me.

i'm doing that bca thing in vegas though so i bought a j/b cue that i'm throwing a hard WB tip on just for that event.

How about another option?

How about another option?

( ) I don't play in tournaments or leagues that disallow cues based upon their tip material.

Frankly I don't give a hoot, I only play One-Pocket and seldom have to resort to a phenolic tipped cue. I have used them before to jump my way out of a trap, though it's seldom and usually experimental in nature.

i jump balls all the time playing 1 hole. you don't?

Honestly you have a better choice than phenolic!

Have a samsara break tip installed on your jump and break cues. I am able to control masse jumps at half a piece of chalk.

I like SPECIAL TOOLS for special jobs. I have a Play Cue, a Jump Cue & a Break Cue.

I used to use a separate jump and break cue w/leather tip.

I then when to a Jump/break cue with Phenolic to save on space in the case.

When BCA banned the phenolic tips on break cues I went back to a my older equipment.

Should have another option. "I just wont play BCA anymore"

But if i had to chooose it would be 2 seperate cues. 1 phenolic jumper and 1 hard leather on the breaker.

Phenolic tips have been legal for many years. Why should I stop using them now, just because somebody in the BCA decided they weren't good? I use one and I see many other players using them. I have never seen a ball damaged by a phenolic tip. I also think the BCA still allows them on jump cues. If they are ok for jump cues, why aren't they ok for break cues?
I am not in love with phenolic tips but I do believe in common sense. By banning phenolic tips from break cues, the BCA insured that I will never be a member.
