Anyone Else Ever Notice This?

#2. If your observation is indeed true the majority of the time, I would like to add that most of the men on here talk non-stop about the female players body parts instead of their games. If we took out the physical-talk, the female pool players may not get mentioned at all, according to your theory.
Guilty as charged Lodini....But I do really appreciate the abilities of the females pros as well.

From what I know, and can gather, most female groupies get involved with the players for somewhat taboo reasons, and the gambling and "bad-boy" aspects of pool.

I think they see the players as people who are ingenious enough not to have to work for a living, and can swindle, con, or hustle their way through life. I think it's the allure of the easy, not totally legal, money that they think is so easily made, that attracts them. This, along with the seediness they think they see in the pool rooms where gambling takes place, makes them think they are not-so-good girls themselves, and allows them to live out bad girl fantasies or makes them feel like they are hustlers themselves.

Most, if you notice, turn tail and run when they see what it really takes to make it as a gambler or roadie in pool. Late nights, losses, unsteady income, and other things make only the most loyal stick around. And for the ones that do stick around, the lifestyle usually takes it's toll.

I've been attracted to a groupie or two in my day. Now I avoid them like the plague.....

Sorry for starting a thread and then not being around to defend/explain it. I got a call at 11:30 this morning that my youngest daughter's(31) pick-truck got hit hard on I-4 near Olando. She went flying out the passenger door 30' and landed in a ditch. So far all x-rays are neg. All kinds of deep cuts and bruises to her face. She can move every body part ok. She is having a problem bending her head forward to touch her chin. She's getting another MRI now to see if anything in her neck is fractured. If it is they will want to screw a hallo to her scull to keep it stable until it heals. Good luck to the doctors and nurses with that...she can be a very wild child. Johnnyt

The women players around here have nothing but respect for the WPBA players. Sarah Rousey is a local favorite.

First of all Johnny....all my best wishes for your daughter's speedy recovery.

Wow...a pool groupie, eh? LoL. I am no one's groupie! I got my first taste of pool in my Uncle Pete's bar in Utica, NY when I was 6. Growing up, if I could find a table in a friend's basement, I was ready to play.

Later on, played a ton with the Navy boys in the Pensacola area...drank a whole lotta free beer!...LoL. I played because I loved to play...and it was fun winning. Back in those days, I had no clue that a woman could play professionally...perhaps if it had the exposure then it has now, my life would have taken a different path than it did.

I have never hung out with a guy or dated one because they could play a good game of pool. The man I am with now was a happy accident, in that I found out after we had been dating that he was a player. He says I have surpassed him, and he supports me playing 100%. He would support me going pro, but I do not feel I have the confidence for it, so there ya go.

I have also never been to a professional tour stop, as we just do not have the same opportunities to see this type of action here in the PNW. While we do have the NWPA up here...again, I am up near the Canadian border and do not make it to the 'city' much...LoL.

Lastly....I prefer to take a 'shine' to someone for who they are, not for what it is they do.

John,
Sincere and heartfelt best wishes for your daughters total recovery. Included in our thoughts & prayers is for you to have some peace. A call like that is hard to fade, no matter what.

Thanks Terry. Only wish it could be me instead of her. Petty face all cut to hell. We'll know more tonight after the surg. We flew the best we could get in to do the operation. He has to go in from the throat and the back of her neck. About seven hours. Right now she has little feeling in her hands.

The guy that caused the accident took off. The guy in the dump-truck that hit her was a hero. I'll deal with the guy that got away when she is out of the woods. I already have make, model, and color. I already put the word out around the area if anyone knows him to tell him to turn himself in. It will be much better off that way for everybody. Johnnyt

Hi Johnny,
Will say a prayer for your daughter! I-4 is a biotch, please be careful yourself with your intentions, as a mom I fully understand.
As for your opening thread I'll rag on you later LOL!
Good luck to you and yours.

Thank you Tracy. John

Damn Johnnyt...30 feet is a big distance for the human body to fly with no injury. She got one helluva jelly roll there. Hope the MRI comes back negative and she can just talk about the day she flew like superman on I-4.

Unfortunately it's true in real life also. Pool playing isn't a good way to meet women thats for sure. :(

Really depends on how good you are. In my experience, women are attracted to excellence in all fields.

Daughter just out of surg. They didn't have to go through the back of the neck...which is a good thing. Everything seems like it went fine. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Johnnyt

Ohhh man that's low  Plus that is in fact the definition of a groupie

But in general pool playing isn't a great way to meet women since men out number them easily 50 to 1 and that one is usually with her boy friend. That and the fact that if you play a lot you spend a lot of time in a place where there are little to no women. aka pool hall;(

I wish I could find a lady that loves pool as much as me...I'd be in heaven!

PS the best player in town here is also alone. No groupies here.

Good luck to all.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. I don't pray much for things-- only people's health! That way they get saved up and used as needed. It seems to work.
Keep us posted, ok?

Hope all is well...

I hope you and yours are doing well. Let the law take care of the moron that did this. You are needed at home not sitting in the county motel.
