Anyone else get this e-mail from the "MONK"

^^^^^^^^ No reason for this ^^^^^^^^

Just give a brief synopsis of who TV Mike is.

^^^^^^^^ No reason for this either^^^^^^^^

I bought a DVD from Tim "The Monk" Miller a year or so ago. Get emails roughly every month promoting additional DVD's and such.

I checked my inbox this morning and saw the same email. I questioned it's validity as well. Cyber-criminals are getting smarter and smarter every day.

So does anyone know if this is a legitimate email, or has someone gotten a hold of the Monk's mailing list ?
I sent an email to the contact address on his page. Here is the response I got.

No, it is not a scam. I really have come up against it. Things are not so well. So it is real.

Thanks for your consideration.

So yes I would say it is real, and I don't get some of the replies either.

I sent him the email.. we will see if it is him..
Mark

I have no doubt that it is him. I have gotten emails from him before, after I purchased his deck of pool shot cards. I hate to say that I got a vibe from his site and his emails that he was somewhat of a drifter and not a highly motivated worker (just a feeling, not saying it's a fact.) He reminded me very much of a friend of mine that is always struggling financially. The email quoted by the OP is also in his style and is accurate in the history and web links.

I fear that he is old enough now that it will be very difficult for him to find and maintain a well paying job. Unfortunately, I know several people that are in pretty bad shape financially right now. I do wish him well.

Thank you for the effort Mark, thanks to your we all know this was from the MONK aka TIM MILLER.

Dear no-job pool players.....

... go ahead and brag that you have never had a job. This is your future.

... go ahead and brag that you have never had a job. This is your future.

Someone else will have to do that bragging as all I did my working life was work for someone else, till I start my own business that went for 18 years, and than my last two years in the work force I was back to working for someone else. Now I enjoy my retirement that I earned.

What's sad is coco cowboy feeling compelled to market his SPAM to all of us on AZB. Was it necessary to copy the entire message begging for sales? You could have just asked the question if people received a message from Monk asking for money.

I would hope all of the posts that copied Coco's post & coco would delete the content. It's bad enough when the Monk sends it to your email, I would hope AZB would be safe from this crap.

Dave

When I got the e-mail I saw what I thought was a RED FLAG, where it stated, "I am going to be honest with you. I need help. I find myself in a financial bind unlike I have never been in before. My need is not much but it is critical. I am asking you to buy something to help me out."

Never got this type of e-mail before from Mr. Miller! FYI

I know he was in Florida a month ago and actually was giving a '100 hr course' to a noob pool player for $3k or maybe it was 3.5?..

Pool is so bad in Fla, some people have actually negotiated with the owners and gotten the rate down to $3/day from 5. Square business! Myself- I wouldnt want that customer.

There is a very easy solution to this problem, GET A JOB!!!!! I was forced to be out of work for the last 2 years due to no fault of my own, so I did what I had to do to ride out my NON-Compete contract by taking on what ever jobs I could find!

Sadly, I know many people, especially older ones, who can't FIND ANY JOB AT ALL. I couldn't get one myself after I graduated from collage.
This is a bit harsh, though probably not in Miller's case.

I have no way to tell if it is actually from Tim Miller or not, but why on Earth would anyone hack his email list and send out spam promoting his website and his products? To make him look bad?

I see what you're saying, Bob. While I like to think of myself as a somewhat intelligent person (somewhat is my disclaimer, after all, I do play pool :D), cyber-criminals are getting smarter every day.

When I read the first few lines of that email, I kind of got that "Help the Nigerian Government" vibe. Just on that feeling, I didn't open the links. And if someone does buy something on the website, who's to say the monies are going to the right account ?

All I'm sayin' is that the tone of the email was cause (for me, anyway) to question the motive behind it.

These are hard times for many and getting harder for many more. Blessings are with all those who are able to help others out in their times of need.

It all looks linked to his website.
With the downturn, people are not spending like the used to.
I would think that alot of places are struggling at the moment.

Tim spent an night watching me win a bar tournament once a long time ago. I was happy to hang with him for a night. I hope things work out for him and everyone else who's back is against the wall. Unfortunately having me wish for something doesn't count for much:frown:
