I have some older LBM ferrules, and have not had this problem. I keep hearing the new stuff isn't the same. Going to suck when I run out!
Brent, I have had this issue, and what I have done is actually sand the ferrules with white or tan sand paper, not black paper...Then I use thin super glue to seal it up before I finish it out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Hope this helps. Chad if your out there, help us cuemakers out!!!BHQ said:solution: white spray paint???? white out??? just kiddin'![]()
i'm using norton tan colored sandpaper also. wake up chad!!!!billiardbum said:Brent, I have had this issue, and what I have done is actually sand the ferrules with white or tan sand paper, not black paper...Then I use thin super glue to seal it up before I finish it out. I have been using the Saber-T ferrules for a while now and I like them a lot. They hit good and stay clean during installation and during play with just reasonable care.BHQ said:get to just about the right size and out pop these grey spots

bigpocket said:I have the same crap on my wifes cue it has the gray crap all over ugley. I think it is ivorene 3. Looks like maybe it time to find a new type of ferrule. Any one no how that titan ferrule is. I tryed the sabre and it sucked IMO.
tsp&b said:Titan seems a little soft to me but it looks great and works really easy.
cueaddicts said:man, a little more crap in that ferrule and you might as well pass it off as buckhorn.in all seriousness, brent, don't feel like the world crapped on you....we've been seeing many cues with LBM ferrules with these kind of problems. maybe atlas can explain what's going on.

i should show you the other ferrule installed same day. it has distinct greyish line. aprrox. 1/16th inch wide the length of the ferrule. that is not caused by the tip dust. it was there before the tip was put on. do you think it just might possibly be shitty material??? if it's faulty procedure, wouldn't all of them be bad??? i don't have this problem with other ferrules. ivorine 4 is just as porous if not more porous as the LBM's. my solution is, i won't buy lbm's anymore, period. i'll go elsewhere for different ferrules. i've been considering making my own material. i'm going to get some dirt/junk/crud and add some lbm to it. and sell them for 50 cents. exactly what they are worthmacguy said:It can be a porous material after being cut. Just always assume the worst. It is best to just seal them with a coat of thin super glue right after cutting rather then wait till you have messed up the job and have to do it over again. In the picture I think because he didn't seal the ferrule and sanded it with the tip on, the tip caused all that mess. Seal it every time and you don't worry about it. I would not use a ferrule I didn't like just because it stays clean. It's better to use what you like and learn how to work with the materal.
