very nice photo program. You can save jpg's with less quality and get a much smaller size without effecting the look of the photo's too much.

Best of all its free for home use.

Yup I have issues with people stealing designs, we've been over it time and time again, for that reason more then 1 person here doesn't share photos and it's really too bad. But when we are talking about cues made up of different design elements from cues already made I'm not sure if we are talking about True one of a kinds. I think when people want to see true one of a kind cues you can look at some of TW's work or Edwin Reyes's work, stuff like that takes the hand of a master to create and most hacks couldn't even begin to understand what went into it let alone copy it. I'd love to see the cue in question just to see if I've ever seen another like it, I've seen many cues in my day. But I don't blame you for not posting the pictures, better safe then sorry, too many people here find nothing wrong with stealing to put it up.

Jim

PS where has Edwin been???

If you're referring to Master Bandido he's very busy right now finishing a lot of orders. I'll be sharing my design once the cue is completed. I called it the "Boiling Point" cue.

.. Now, if someone built an exact copy, down to the signature (a forgery), and tried to pass it off as the original...that's a whole different story. That's fraud and I would prosecute it to the fullest extent of the law.

I will not be hesitant to post photos.
I was looking for info on Tibbits cues and saw this post. Now I'm curious - is their a problem with high-end cues being forged? I read somewhere where a cue-maker was saying that he had been asked by customers to create exact replicas, right down to the identifying marks, and he had of course refused.

And a little nervous to post a picture of it incase someone out there goes "wow, that is a great looking cue design! Let me print that off and get me one!"?

I designed my own ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Anyone else on the board have that issue? A cue that is one of a kind and they dont post the pics incase the design gets copied?

either play with it or keep it at home. no one's going to copy it from a bad photograph shot at a distance unless it's mottey. so if you know mottey is in the area., keep your cue at home.

I have a few cues with unique designs and I've always posted pictures of them. Of course, this is, in large part, due to my overwhelming need for compliments and others approval...lol. That being said, if someone were to copy one of my designs I guess I would be flattered. However, I definitely wouldn't want to see a large production of cheap knock-offs.

BTW, this is not meant to imply that my designs are good enough for anyone to want to copy...lol...it's just a hypothetical. :D

I have one that is in pre-production mode... I will post pics of the cue and design after I get it from James White...

The Woods in the cue are Ebony Butt Sleeve... Ebony and Pink Ivory 6 point cue (3 large points Ebony, 3 small points Pink Ivory) with 2 veneers... into a Birdseye Forearm...

There are custom Ivory and Pink Ivory inlays in the Ebony Butt Sleeve and in the ringwork...

Just a Teaser... maybe after it is actually in production I will post pics of the drawing I made in Paintbrush program...

I guess I'd be kind of safe from this because I just like points, rings, and vaneers. All you can do there is do re-cuts, however many vaneers, have rings in the A-E positions, and the reverse points in the butt. Who hasn't done this? My thing is to see how it'd look with different wood setups and it's a lot harder than I thought. :( I'm just now starting to like some wrapless designs, but that's pushing it for me, because I really don't like playing with a wrapless cue. I mostly like the Rambow/Hoppe style of cue and could never get enough of it. :D

Cue designs to me are when you putting stuff out like Zeeder's schrimshawed female player's cue. Now THAT is a nice design, from an art aspect. I wouldn't even want to play with it. But then again, I wouldn't ask a cuemaker to make a cue for me that I don't intend on hitting some balls with. One person's stuff I really like, from a straight collection aspect, that I feel doesn't get enough kudos is Richard Chudy. I think he does some damn good work! My favorite design of his is his Le' Femme cue from a while back.

I have a 1-of-a-kind currently being made by Andy Gilbert. It was originally inspired by the classic Gus 8-pointer with ivory box tips, but I've changed it significantly enough to give it a unique character all its own. The ringwork is simple ivory dashes, but the cue's bottom sleeve will have scrimmed ivory cartouche inlays listing both my real name and internet name in egyptian heiroglyphics.

Cue_Cartouche_Inlays.jpg

I am not aware of any other cue with the above-mentioned feature.

I had to keep each cartouche at 6 symbols each, so I abbreviated it ;)

Signed 1 of 1

I have a Cue made by a Well Known Cuebuilder he Signed 1 of 1. Because he said he was not building another one like it..........:D

I called it the Project from Hell, he called it a Challange....:o

Someday I will post some photos of the Cue...some day...... ;)

I didn't get any responses to this, so I'm wondering if this is a taboo subject on these boards, or if it simply isn't a concern. Thanks in advance.

Well, for what it is worth.
I have a one-of-a-kind design drawn up.
I wouldn't post it.
I wouldn't describe it.
UNTIL it is actually made, signed and dated.
I'll probably plot out a CAD drawing of it, sign it and date it.
After that, it can be posted anywhere, and i wouldn't care, because i made it first :D
I drew a design on paper with pen and pencil. I showed it to a master cuebuilder and he said, "it can't be done". I said, "I think maybe it could be". He asked, "how?". I proceded to explain a technique that I thought might work. He then said, "that might work, could I keep this drawing?" I said yeah. I just wish he would have sent me the prototype in exchange for the idea. There have been several produced since then. Oh well, live and learn.

That wouldn't happen to be the Searing cue which you have a piece of in your avatar would it?!

Yeah, it is a bit of a Searing. Has nothing to do with this thread though. it is just a picture that really caught my eye. The bridged veneers, are awesome.

Maybe people just can't see your posts since the other day you claimed you were leaving??

Yeah, that cue is amazing! It's one cue that there's no way I could afford but would love to have...lol.

Jimbo, after reading other posts of yours, the attacks you've made on me seem minor.

with all the claims you make to know so many cue-makers and so much about pool, why can't you just answer the question instead of always being a smart-*ss?
