Anyone ever own a good decal cue?

They seem to not get very much love on here. They can't all be bad, right?

Reason I ask this is because I once had a really nice-hitting Players decal cue. The forearm and butt sleeve was a decal that looked like bird's-eye maple, and nicely done. Joint was surprisingly piloted, a typical Players 5/16x18 pin. Shaft was also surprisingly nice, with unusually straight grain maple. Pressed Irish linen wrap. I always played with a triangle tip on it, but I thought the hit felt right for my taste. I eventually gave it to my son when I started acquiring more cues, but I sometimes wish I still had it. I certainly don't need it, but parting ways with a decent cue (or a nice firearm) sometimes leaves me remorseful.

Any stories y'all might share about a nice decal cue you own or have owned?

There is nothing wrong with a playes or a Lucasi. Both are solid hitting cues that because they just have decals they look elaborate for an inexpensive price.

I have had a # of the Import McDs that played lights out. A collector bought one I had that was a 100 new and he gave 160 for it after I used it as my daily player for 4 months. I wish I still had it.

I use one of those kinds of cues for my break cue--6 of them came with my pool table. I estimate its value at $60-$80 (circa 2015). Once you put a XX hard tip on it it breaks just fine. I consider it expendable as I have 5 more.

heck i got some twp piece players cues and others . just find one you like the hit and its as good as any cue anywhere as long as you like the hit and feel of it.
i keep one in all my cars and at home some and after ten minutes or less i am hitting and adapting to it as good as my expensive customs.

snobs are snobs in all things.

Here's some butts that'll make players do a douyble take when you pull it out of a flimsy Wal-Mart case.
These are butt only but has a 3/8x10 joint. Add your own quality shaft and you have a great "undercover" cue.
I just ordered one for my old D-series McD shaft! lol
$30.00 and free shipping.

25 years ago I picked through a full bin of Imperial decal cues to get one for my 10 year old - we still have it today - straight and plays great!

Are these decals ?
I hope not.

Yes.

basically most any cue that has all parts very tight fitting and solid, and well balanced will hit well for most people. some may not like the fit but that is personal choice.

So i went to get my case for this thread. I assumed it was a decal cue. but maybe not I can feel the ringwork a little through the finish.
I bought this players over 15 years ago. was in the display case at the pool hall labeled 20$. I asked the guy if it was used or damaged.
He didnt even look up from his phone. Said nope, just a cheap cue.
I said gimme. someone forgot the 1. should have been 120.
It has been a very solid cue and plays great.
