im in!!!! very interested here
Understood what I was saying. Thank you
It would have been best if it was perfected in aluminum BEFORE you did a marketing feeler.
Not sure if you're trolling or not, but have you ever done R&D work? Wood is often used for prototyping. Why spend more money on developing straight into metal when the cost would be 10x more? Invest $100 of wood or $2000 in metal? Choice is easy.
And as you should know, when making just one part, the cost of production is high. Now do a batch order and make 100, cost is dropping with every additional jig produced.
Plus, he could of never of made this thread and kept this idea to himself. Made a working model out of wood, and been done. But he decided to be generous with his idea and share it. Now I would assume by now that you know how stupid your remark is, but the fact that you had to make it shows how little you know. But keep to your trolling and knocking of other peoples ideas, you'll certainly get far in life.
Actually, you made the stupid post.
Pescadoman never suggested he do prototyping in metal. He was saying after all of the prototyping is done and it is perfected, make an aluminum one before marketing so that people can see a product. Why did he suggest this? See next paragraph.
As pescadoman pointed out, Lee made a lot of these types of posts referring to differeing products at various stages. A lot of people were very interested but some of the products ended up being varporous. This happened a lot and eventually Lee developed a certain reputation for it. Pescadoman was simply pointing this out.
I don't think Chuck will go down the Lee path. I personally have no problem with this feeler. But, I understand what Pescadoman was saying. I suspect a lot of folk who were around during Lee's heyday also understand his point.
So you're saying Chuck should of spent all his time and money into making an aluminum jig, just so on the off chance no one would want it he wastes everything? Again, it's called R&D for a reason. If every idea out there worked perfect, and there were to always be a demand, it would be called Production, not R&D. Knocking someone's idea and comparing them to someone else is just being a bigot.
Then again, I'd guarantee than you haven't ever tried to invent something. Imagine sitting there being so close to making something work, then asking your target audience if they would want it and only getting a few people to respond. It's debilitating to see an idea so openly rejected. Why would Chuck continue onto making an aluminum/metal based jig if no one wanted one? Some many closed minded people are not able to see why someone is doing what they're doing, only looking at the past and others to judge the present.

Let no good deed go unpunished. This is just great.
To compair Chuck's reliability with Lee's sad record is ridiculous.
To speculate that a square shooter like Chuck could possibly be as unreliable as Lee, well...is that even possible?
Robin Snyder
Well Chuck has done EXACTLY what Lee did in the past so far, so call me ridiculous. He asked if there was interest in a product that he hasn't even perfected for himself yet.
I'm not sure how trying to sell something is a good deed either, but if that is how you see it then I suggest you send him some money as a preorder. You know....good faith?"
The difference is that Lee, over a period of YEARS, earned himself a reputation of blowing smoke out his ass. Among other things.
I did a search, and if Chuck ever blew smoke out his ass, I KNOW it would have been on U-Tube.
I've never heard a bad word about the guy.
It's apples and oranges.
As far as sending Chuck money on good faith, if I needed that tool and if Chuck said he could make it, I see no problem. I'd do the same with you and a number of other people I trust.

Thank you Robin. My whole goal here was to save Chuck a headache, not cause him one.
and let me say i never knew that there were that many haters, so many people that are unable to accomplish anything but attempting to start shit. if any of these idiots would spend 2 min doing a search or google chuck starkey they would find out that i have been selling on ebay for 20 years with a 100% feedback, i have been selling here for a few years with a 100 % trader rating, i have made over 400 cues and have one of the best warrentees out there today, did any read the thread where i replaced a cue that was 2 1/2 years old, it failed and the problem MIGHT have been my fault. oh well i guess these assholes just need something to make them feel important. had i known they would be lurking i would have had my attorney write the orignal thread start.
now for you builders that were really intersted in the jig, photos are of the orignal one, that fits my new grizzley band saw. look at the photos and build one for yourself, if you can think of any improvments please pm me with them.
