anyone know billy ray?

O so he is won of those guys lol he likes to get paid but not pay out. I hate peaople like that they know you have money it could be 100 -500 or whatever and if they know they can win they dont have to have a dollar on them, i played a guy once he had me stuck 3 sets we double the money i win a set he quits. The next day we match up i win the first set that covers what i lost from the day before and he quits says he has no money:D

I forgot an incident at Hard Times in Costa Mesa with Billy Ray and myself in about 1977. At about midnight we played a game of straight pool to 100 points for a hundred bucks or so. Billy lost and had no money, and said sorry he would pay me later.
My friend Ron and I both knew that we would never collect, and so Ron told him off and called him a low-life, etc.
Billy seemed somewhat relieved that he wouldn't have to pay off.

A friend of mine had a situation like that here. He occasionally backed a good player, (roadie in the local area/lowlife) and also this guy would constantly borrow money $5 here, $20 there.

Finally, he loaned him $100.00. I asked him why? He said, "because I know I will never see him again". That makes it worth the $100..:D

Bobby lost a couple dimes to Fargo they are suposed to match up again in a week or so. Fargo is up in Chicago again he won 80,000 grand at the casino boat last night:eek: damn the luck. As of last night we called down to Red SHoes in Chicago and Fargo was on his way there to play 5k a set banks 1 handed with Watusse Slim, Piggy Banks was in action as well.

Billy ray was still at Billiards on Main last night Mark played him some short rack banks Doric played him some cheap 9-ball. I would have liked to see you 2 play a rematch 9-ball is his game but ive seen you take down some Big players as well, he will be in town for a while he just had surgury.

I have loaned people money for that exact reason, as silly as it sounds. It works though!

Cadilac

Call down to Red Shoes in Chicago thats were he has been lately we called up there the other night and he was playing Watussie not sur the amount Fargo was there as well.

Billy Ray was in Galesburg,IL last night. Bob McGrath lost 4200 to Fargo per Bobby. I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Billy shoot as he was just watching a BB game at the pool hall. Fargo shot fantastic, it was quite a pleasure to watch him play the different tables and games.

Have a good one.:)

I heard Billy Ray called "Fudsy" by a couple of guys years ago. Does anyone know anything about this? Was it a nickname?

Fudzy

Yeah he had a nickname of Fudzy because he talks like Elmer Fudd!! Silly Wabbit!!!

craigmac

Of coarse he is going to use different names he is a road playerand seasoned hustler:)

I was there in the 1970's at Hard Times. I watch Keith rob Billy Ray with the 5 ball on the bar table. I think he tried to give the 3 ball later. There no way Billy Ray played Keith with the 7 ball on any table. But I am old, my memory might be bad. I won money with Billy Ray a few times. Once betting on him against Kim Davenport even. Billy Ray was from San Jose.

You may hate it but that happens in CA....You are allowed and air barrel.
After playing every living human till you are dead busted what's a guy or gal gonna do???Just tell me.

Especially if your go off has been witnessed and ya can't get a stake to save your life. I know now that it's NOT OK. I did't know then. I also have learned it's not OK EVER in some parts of the U.S. Usually places where they have no gamble or depend on tush hogs to do their talking. I mean please hasn't any body been dead busted and away from home? The only other solution is to "I live here now" Or get a "JOB" or do some hustle which is almost as dangerous. Beggin is also an option but it's scary to show weakness in some spots. Is the old saying I'd rather owe you than stiff you completely dead??? I might need to know. I haven't been more than 1500 miles from home in a long time.

Billy Ray came through LA & stopped in the Golden Cue in Rosemead in 78/79. He beat me out of a little $$ and I ran into him after hours at the original Hard Times in Costa Mesa. He was just starting to play Keith getting the 7 & came up to me and asked if I wanted a piece. I told him no and he was offended and told me I was stupid because nobody in the country could give him the 7. Keith beat him a 7 ahead set in less than an hour. He could be a jerk sometimes, but he could play. I did see him beat Keith on a bar table with a similar spot. John Henderson

Billy used to play in San Jose at California Billiards and was a good 9 ball player. He was never at the pro level and used to beat Kim before Kim got really good. Kim would be giving Billy the seven when Kim was at the top of his game. I did see Billy Ray playing Jack Madden several times in San Jose when Jack was living there, and Billy got the best of it but it was close. I dont know if anybody as seen Billy play lately but his game is definitely a few balls under how he used to play (literally). He was in Phoenix about a year ago and got beat by several people that in his prime he would have been able to give the seven ball to. He is game is definitely a shell of what it used to be.

Ray Suden. He used to play at California Billiards which used to be about 500 yards from where I'm sitting right now. His father used to play there as well.
Hi Bob, I never knew his name, but he taught me jump shots at Saratoga Lanes in the 80's. He had a few $ matches with Bill Brown there too, but I was the only other one observing. His main game was 9 ball, and very flashy style. I only knew him as Billy Ray Jr., and was told his father was Billy Ray (Sr) played out of 4th Street Bowl in downtown SJ. Ever play him yourself? And, any contact info avail? He'd remember me for sure.
